When I listen to Wish You Were Here, by Pink Floyd, I catch myself getting lost in thought to the point I miss the song. Does this happen to anyone else with a song?
Pink Floyd has a way of doing that to a person. Especially if you are high
Do I look like the kind of person that would listen to Pink Floyd high?
@GeorgeRocheleau yes!
@GeorgeRocheleau yes! Yes you do
@GeorgeRocheleau My hunch is YES
I played that on piano at my brother's funeral.
That's wonderful man.
I'm sorry.
If you like and listen to music all songs are this way. The truth is, songs mean different things to different people. That is what attracts us to them. Try finding a songwriter sometime as he explains what he meant when he wrote the song. Most of us would be amazed.
Yup, and that's one of the songs that does it. My favorite band as a teenager was Pink Floyd, and I was untreated for major depressive disorder and PTSD as a teenager. Usually it still triggers flashbacks to that time.
That song in particular yes but there are many.
Just want to say that is my fave Floyd song. Also a fan of the recent Avenged Sevenfold cover!
I do the same thing with Floyd the Barber from the Andy Griffith show.
@Gwendolyn2018 He was no Barney Fife, but yes I can see his appeal.
@Gwendolyn2018 Exactly!
I am always looking for new songs for karaoke and wow do I get tired! The trips down memory lane get overwhelming at times!
It does and in your defence, the song kind of roams around.
As a side note, I work in IT, which we do remote support. Sometimes when I log into someone's computer from remote, they stop looking at the screen when I need them. I very often will pull up YouTube with, "Is there anybody out there" playing
TOWNES VAN ZANDT. When I listen to his , "MARIE"....man I just FEEL. He is one of my all time favorites. Rarely is he played for the public and thats a shame in my opinion.
I am a huge fan of Warren Zevon and Joe Walsh and either of those lyricists having something played on radio can send me into a memory recall of song lyrics, melodies, phrasing etc. despite the obvious negativity attached to most of either of their unforgettable tunes.
I really enjoyed the old bands an artist who actually wrote their own music and performed without Auto-Tune
