Islam is not a religion, rather a death cult for apostates. It's a mousetrap. You will be rejoiced when you will join the brotherhood but will become an automatic target for hate and death threats when you even start doubting its tenets before eventually leaving it. I am amongst a handful of the brave ones who are still around to tell you the horrifying tales of atrocities towards ex Muslims like me. Many of our apostate friends are dying every week. Many got banished from their birth lands. Many got ostracized by their own families. Western Governments won't bring our sufferings to surface as matter to pay attention to as they find it uncomfortable to admit that the minority Muslim community within the western world are being horrible towards the minority amongst them.
We have all heard of such things happening in other religions. Why should Islam be any different? Once people go down the path of superstition they can become convinced of the rightness of even the most heinous acts.
Sure. But still in the 21st century people should be able to behave in a civilized manner!
@zesty
Ha! What's so civilized about the 21st century? We are staring down the barrel of civilization-ending climate change and doing very little to stop it. I call that damned uncivilized.
@Flyingsaucesir The climate change brouhaha is nothing else as an attempt for wealth redistribution. Forget it!
@zesty
Oh boy, are you ever out of touch!
@Gooniesnvrdie
Thanks brother. I was just looking at her profile and she claims to be a college professor. Yet she made a rather basic grammatical error in the above thread. I don't think (s)he is who (s)he claims to be.
I'm just wondering if the UK is a safe place for an ex muslim due to the strict gun control laws. This way only the criminals and fanatics are armed. In the US, at least, you could arm and protect yourself.
Is that meant to be ironic ?. if not check the relative number of deaths by shooting in the USA and the UK.
@zesty Sorry but you are living in a fantasy world.
According to Wikipedia it is about 38 homicides per year in the UK due to firearms.
This compares with the USA which has about 10,900 homicides per year due to firearms.
The number of firearm homicides per 100,000 population in the UK is 0.06 and in the USA is 3.43 - so about 57 times greater per 100,000 population in the USA.
The UK's rate per 100,000 population is similar to that of Germany. The USA's is similar to Nicaragua.
The total deaths by firearms (homicide, suicide, accident, undetermined) is about 147 per year in the UK and 33,600 in the USA.
These numbers are the statistics for 2011 and 2014 for the UK and USA respectively.
@Charlene
Zesty is either off her rocker or she is an alt-right troll.
All religions are Death cults..
Thank you for raising the issue. I strongly suspect that most of the members of this site come from some sort of Christian background and a lesser number from Judaism. - I'm being very general here with that statement.
So to hear from a person who has come from Islam into reason, at least for me is very interesting. I tend to see more 'Christian bashing' going on not only here, but in at least British society. I have often wondered if that is due to fear of some kind of retribution. Still, one can look back to the Inquisition for comparison on intolerance.
At college I know that one of my lecturers is an evangelical devout Christian, which surprises as they are leading our research classes. And we have the only Muslim in the college. The Muslim is willing to question their faith, and I suspect will loose it as the arguments for a god dissipate under scrutiny. They would also love to try alcohol - after all, Islam shares the same god as Judaism and Christianity and they both have wine in their ceremonies. So why would god deny Muslims?
Good thing there isn't a gawd..
By the way..I've met many Muslims from different countries..they've All drank Alcohol..
I'm honestly sorry for what you're struggling with. I would like to see more support for Muslims seeking safety from religious oppression. It is brutal from what I understand.
You are so right, Meili... more compassion.. and less sht stirring. yes, you can be atheist and not be an asshole**
