First post on here, so be gentle. I was raised LDS, and have since had my name officially removed from the church records permanently last October. I’ve been Agnostic a little over a year now, and being still surrounded by the dominant LDS culture here in Utah, it’s made it extremely difficult to find friends and even date. Just reaching out to see if there are any like minded individuals locally here in Utah who wouldn’t mind including me in group functions, and other interactions in the near future. Thank you all. Any takers?

I hope you find many friends.

Welcome. I lived in Utah for 16 months before taking a huge pay cut to get out. I had no friends because once they realized they couldn’t convert me I was a ghost. You will find many where you are at that have left the church and religion AND have friends, family and are extremely happy. Give yourself time and good luck. The best is yet to come.

Look on the right hand side of your home page.

Scroll down until you see the group "Members near me."

Drop to your knees and say "Wonder Wart Hog #99, I am not worthy."

I'd be happier if you'd send me a post card. I collect those things.

I, too, am an ex-Moron (oops, ex-Mormon). However, I live most of the year in Tennessee, and three months of the year in Italy, where I am now. Looking back, I can see that my excommunication was THE BEST thing the church ever did for me. But then, I've had 30 years to get over it. You may still be feeling the pain of their rejection.

Unfortunately, I am too far away to know what group functions are near you. I have, however, been involved in the Universal Unitarians while still living in Moron (oops, Mormon) country. Here, [uua.org], at the bottom of the page, you can locate the congregation nearest you. They accept atheists, agnostics and others, regardless of their beliefs, or lack thereof. They were very helpful to me when I first left Moronism (oops, Mormonism).

And this site, Agnostic.com, is a good place to find friends. I hope you find some near enough that you can meet them in person.

I wish you the best. Life gets better when you are allowed to think, speak and act on your own. Enjoy your freedom! 🙂

T'ain't the first galoot showed up and darkened my doorstep. I've been on since December.

Got plenty of "on line" friendships in the e-mail.

Good luck to you. It must be difficult to step outside the group.

Good luck with finding local non-believers! Funny about your LDS past, my neighbor’s are LDS, only some of them are non-believers! It is such an interesting relationship, I am most fond of all of them, but I would never go out of my way to make friends with people of this persuasion! The grandma who was 96 just past and she was a believer, but I adored her and I had to make it clear that I am not a believer in god or religion! There is a very good chance she could have become a non-believer herself, given the right exposure! Lol best of luck and keep posting!

I am still on the rolls...was only an active member for less than a year, right around the time my son was born...so that would be over 20 years ago! The Mormon church is one of the churches I have to thank for my agnostic journey actually. It was after that experience (& a few more) that I realized it was all BS. ^_^

I am in TX, so I can't help you with getting to know anyone...but there have been some great suggestions here already. I wish you all the best and just know you did the right thing. Thinking for yourself is always the right way to go. ^_^ xox

It took me a while to see you meant Latter Day Saints...not LSD...but on a humourous tone:

1

Welcome. There are some former LDS here.If you look at the directory, of members, you can click on members near me.

2

I'm a bit dyslectic so I read your line as I was raised LSD.

Welcome aboard, I no longer attend church myself, my last calling before I left was second counselor in a a Bishopric, relax don’t over think it , don’t allow your imagination to run rampant with what it looks like to others . Just as you have chosen to move in a different direction, be okay with accepting others have their way . You have nothing to explain to anyone and nothing to fear but what you create. Enjoy your new adventures.

Do you mind sharing the process for being removed from the rolls? I have tried several times but never get any notice that the process has been completed.

@Setzerrebel1988 Thank you. I went to the website and followed the directions. My resignation has been submitted.

You have a friend, His name is Jesus. Give Him a call. He's usually free on Thursdays to go barhopping.

Congratulations on escaping the LDS sheeple flock, you are no longer feeding the wolves in charge, well done.
