I write this with a sadness I am unable fully explain with words. My Noble friend of 14 years is gone. Unable to help him with his pain, end his seizures or comfort him I agreed to euthanize him as painlessly as possible. Only 13 pounds he guarded my home, kept me company, showed me humor and shared companionship asking nothing more than a little food and shelter. I've lived most my life without a wife except for 6 years. Buddy was found on death row at Moreno Valley animal shelter in 2006, he'd been living on the streets for a year. I just wanted somebody other than me to know this little terrier had worth far and above what his looks would gather, gone to the ages I will miss him forever. This is my tribute to him and those like him that make our lives livable.
It sounds as if you had a wonderful life together. Letting them go when they need to is is one of the hardest things. But it is the right one.
Our four legged friends deserve to be remembered and given recognition for the companionship and love they give us. My condolences in your loss.
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friend and companion.
To euthanize can be hard for us - but so much kinder for them - when an illness has become unbearable. Each time I've done it - it was a promise kept that I wouldn't let them suffer if I had the choice.
I''m sorry for the absence you must be feeling. It is heartbreaking. I know.
I lost my beloved cat of almost 17 years last month and I can’t write anything like this without sobbingit really hurts and leaves a hole! My heart goes out to you.
You made me cry. I have had quite a few animal family members die over the years, mostly by euthanization, and it never gets easier. The best advice I can give you is go save a few more great doggies from your local shelter. Or better yet, save some kitties. New fur-babies will help soothe your soul.
Always tough to lose a friend like that. I have three, a couple Buddy's age range. They're my best friends in the world. Sorry for your loss.
Dogs! The most gracious and special creatures. I feel for your loss. If it helps I understand totally and am with you in your grief. Love and luck to you
A tear jerker, but it says a lot in few panels...[agnostic.com]
Darn you for making me cry!
My best friend and 4 legged mate Charlie, the Aussie Blue Heeler, died of old age at 16 years, he was by my side through the undoubtedly WORST period of my life, after my 16 year old Daughter, Lorrae, passed away from Cancer.
Where ever I went he was by my side, when ever I felt down he was there offering up his love and support by merely putting his paw on to my leg or nuzzling my hand and looking into my eyes, etc, on one very terrible day I decided to end everything by baring the ends of an electrical cord, standing in large container of water, flicking the switch and dropping the cord into the water, I've never forget the look in his eyes that seemed to be saying to me, " If you do this who will I have to love me, who will love me, who will care for me and who will I have to care afterwards."
Yep, I quickly came to my sense and am still here today, Thanks a million Charlie, though you may gone now, you, your love and true friendship will NEVER be forgotten.
I feel with you, and for you.......in my seventy-six years, there have been few without the companionship of a dog. I feel with you, and for you. My advice...find another soon.. the only reason for pain is to tell you "somethings wrong". Save another to help save you pain.
My condolences. It's hard, but at least we can grant this peace to our fur companions...Hugs.
Sending you good vibes. Dogs are amazing. We share your grief for your loss.
That's really rough, man. I'm sorry for your loss. I know the grief is real. Two beings loved and supported each other for a long time--quite a gift.
I'm sorry for loss, those little guys love with all their heart. I've had several that I miss dearly as well. RIP
My heart breaks for you. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in your memories of the wonderful years you had with Buddy.
