Why does cognitive dissonance not seem to be a thing with so many "Christians"? Here's yet another part of their holy book they seem to ignore en masse:

There are professors in science and engineering in the South that are very devout christians...i don't get how their brain operates.

Xians don't care what the bible advocates unless it's something they already believe in. All those parts -- like this one -- that tells them to do something they don't want to do are conveniently overlooked.

always in the Bible you can find what you're looking for, we know that that's why most of us are atheist, the people that aren't atheists that are Sunday Christians can't justify the the contradictions is strangely enough their churches are not required to explain it.

churches take the official position of the day feed it to their parishioners and they buy it.

there's nothing new Under the Sun

Far too many Christians seem unable incapable or unwilling to recognize that there is much incongruity between their purported religious beliefs and their immoral racial and political stances.

First,

They will throw it out as it is the OLD TESTAMENT and it was meant for the children of Israel.

Second,

That was under the dispensation of law. According to the Bible we are under the dispensation of grace.

Third,

You are playing yourself if you are still trying to figure out why Christians think the way they do. Humans are fucking idiots. I've long stopped trying to understand them. (I mean us🤔)

Christians are hypocrites....they really don't follow the Bible

Probably the largest so-called evangelical group is the Southern Baptist Convention. Here’s the last four paragraphs of their recent resolution:

RESOLVED, That we declare that any form of nativism, mistreatment, or exploitation is inconsistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage all elected officials, especially those who are members of Southern Baptist churches, to do everything in their power to advocate for a just and equitable immigration system, those in the professional community to seek ways to administer just and compassionate care for the immigrants in their community, and our Southern Baptist entities to provide resources that will equip and empower churches and church members to reach and serve immigrant communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage pastors to address immigration issues with their local churches and to exhort their congregations to serve their local immigrant communities; and be it finally

RESOLVED, That we affirm that all immigrants are either brothers and sisters in Christ or people whom God loves and has given us an opportunity to reach with the gospel where otherwise they may never have heard.

It is very easy to sit on your butt and draw unwarranted conclusions from statistics, especially if those conclusions reinforce your personal agenda.
Do the pollsters actually go to churches and interview active members? I doubt it.

You are going to see correlation between “evangelism” and conservatism every time, but correlation is not causation. For various reasons the most conservative areas of the country are the Midwest and the South. For historical reasons those areas also have a lot of Protestant Churches. According to a recent Pew poll only 11% of evangelicals are Christian Conservatives.

I haven’t been a Baptist in 58 years, and I am not in accord with Christian doctrines, however, nothing good can be gained through distortions, stereotyping and scapegoating.

Cherry picking and Cognitive Dissonance are two of the vital prerequisites for any Faithfool.

I'm to the point that I don't look for coherence any more. Over the years I've seen so many positions 'supported ' by the Wholly Babble that I'm convinced that it's everything to anyone.

Now whenever I hear the Babble brought up as a source, I immediately discount everything else that argument says. If the best they can do is cite an incompetent fantasy story, then I don't think they deserve my effort or even my attention.

Religion and God is nothing but a story that one creates in their own mind. Each person is the author of their own story, based to some degree on accepted "holy texts"and they create the story as they go along any way that suits them and what they choose to believe.
