Yesterday I noticed an IM from my cousin through messenger on FB. He's about 10+ years older than I am, I can't say I know him well, we just happen to be related. This morning I finally responded, and he told me he has won a $200,000 lottery and I'm on the winner list too!! Woohoo!!
Yeah, I don't think so. So I confronted him, and yes he admitted to being a scammer and wants to punish all of the US for our imperialism. It was the most surreal conversation I've ever had. He has issues with "our god" and when I told him I was an atheist the restraints were off and I got it all. Now, when my cousin changes his password and takes control of his account again I've now come out to the entire extended family. Which is OK, if they haven't guessed it I don't really care what they think. Dang, I could really use $200,000.
You really have to wonder at times.... Are people really stupid enough to fall for this kind of shit?.... If they are I really have a hard time feeling sorry for them....
About a year ago I had a similar Facebook IM message from a friend, giving me a link to check because she had noticed my name on the "winners list". I simply put out a massage to the local fb forum group warning people to be wary.
The friend with the compromised account was an avid clicker on every quiz, personality test and game invite that appeared. She is now more cautious!
His attitude about the punishing is shared by many others in so many different ways. Trump supporters want to punish us deep down for not sharing their views. On a You Tube page I saw a post by a man who was asking if Bill Maher did not have all his money would he still have the same ideas. I once worked at a factory where a man was really upset that he had never won our "paycheck bingo" and he had played 10 times. We are despicable!
I play the lotto most weeks and at 72 I have not won yet. Do you know why this is? It is because I have not won yet!
We all have some wierdos in our extended family. I have a cousin who is a right wing nut and evangelical minister.. I have seen some of his rants online, but have gone out of my way to avoid any contact with him.
It wasn't my cousin, my cousin's account has been hacked, and the hacker is someone who has a grudge against Americans. However, when my cousin secures his account he will be able to read all of the conversation I had with the hacker. He's going to find out I'm a social justice warrior, and an atheist, and a liberal. The only part he might not already know is atheist, but I've never really hidden it.
@HippieChick58 The number of scammers we have today is absurd -- enhanced by Trump's culture of greed and corruption.
