I’ve made it the last couple years without a fridge until a month ago. My cabinets are full of ramen/other noodles, tuna, canned beans and tomatoes, dry beans and rice, almonds, honey, peanut butter

My wife and I are borderline paranoid (but we each outgrew guns long ago - even before we met). We've always kept a stocked pantry for the inevitable (hopefully, from our point of view, temporary) collapse of society -- knock on wood.

We have dried pasta, various legumes including peanut butter, canned foods, honey, water and spices. We also keep useful staples even if they don't last quite as long -- as vegetables, flour and nuts. We would have trouble going years without supplies, but months would be doable. Staples cooking is a skill that everyone should have even if they seldom need it.

I hope your fridge-free state wasn't entirely involuntarily. I like the idea even as I admit I'm an an American and am just about as spoiled as the rest of us.

@RichCC It was mostly involuntary but I’ve made due. Been cleaning out and repairing a zombie house my dad wrecked in spectacular hoarders fashion, the fridge was a filthy nasty wreck of spoilage. Definitely nicer having at least a mini fridge now but I picked up a few nice tricks for living off nonperishable goods.

Once, I had nothing in the house to eat, except a package of spaghetti noodles, and some beef boullion cubes. So, I invented spaghetti in beef broth. Not bad. But I wouldn't want to live on it! Both however,would last in the cupboards a long, long time!

It's a lovely summery dress and you look good in it.

You responded to the wrong thing post! Summery dresses don't have a long shelf life - you have to eat them right after sewing!

@Fretherne1

Thank you.

Is this dress too short?

Fruit preserves.

Macaroni and Cheese. Just ate a box last night that was a year expired.

A can of soup. 🙂

mixed nuts.

@gigihein

Nuts go rancid, including nut butters (peanut butter, almond butter, etc.)

It's best to store nuts and nut butters in the refrigerator.

Honey

books

I meant food. I edited the post. Thanks for the enlightenment. lol.

What's that old line from the British TV comedy Coupling? Jack Davenport as Steve said for a long time he didn't know he had an oven.

There was this square thing in the kitchen that he kept books in -- until there was a slight fire incident.

@IAJO163 If you're hungry enough, you'll eat paper.
