I think this is just venting (uinless anyone can offer some assistance?) My phone was off, which led my mother to knock on my door at 6.30 am. YES! Six thirty in the friggin' morning! My phone has been off for 3 days. I get it. I should have contacted my mom and told her, but again - 3 days!!!! So, I stop over at her house for the emergency she needed help with - entering the WIFI password into the new laptop. As I'm keying the configuration of letters and numbers, she presents me milk crates full of empty soda bottles that she has from 1976. It is now my task to sell these for her. Someone told her that each bottle is worth $40 so I am entrusted to return with $1600. I stuff them into my car with a ton of other stuff that she no longer has room for in her home and promise her I will do my best. I am also trying to figure out how to afford just giving her $1600 and being done with it.
Curiosity got the better of me and I've been looking online for a couple hours now, the value of old bottles and where I can sell this shit. I of course got distracted with the value of some old decanters I have on my own shelves. UGH... i know, I got the crazy from genes.
In frustration, I closed all the windows on my laptop and am now looking at a few of the bottles sitting on my coffee table. But this is one of those times when I consciously think, if i believed in god, i wonder if i would put this on him? - god, lead me to a wealthy collector!!!
There are so many trivialities that my family goes through and I hear them, and then mock them.... like; your god's gonna stop work on that clean water issue to ensure your thirst is quenched. (actual words spoken when someone was swearing to god that if they didn't get a bottle of water, they would die.)
I think that is all. I'm frustrated and now wondering why this task isn't on any of my siblings, and also what dumb dumb from my mother's church told her that these empty bottles have value. Oh, did i mention, god protected the glass from breakage every time my parents moved so my mom could reap the benefit now? It's been an interesting morning.
Anyone wanna send me $40 for an empty bottle???
Ebay....start the asking price of 40 maybe your clean photographed bottles will bring 50 and some clown will come hand you cash....meet nearest the police station so you are safe in broad daylight when the 2nd shift cops see you waiting with bottles to sell
I have a solution! Tell your mom that you got $60.00 per bottle, but Jesus cam to you in a vision and told you to donate it to the church and that's where all the money went. If she does not like it she can take it up with Jesus.
except she's the treasurer of the church. hahahahahaha!
@Lillyfield41 tell her Jesus asked you to donate it to a different church.
I have a cousin who prays for literally every goddam thing. I know because she posts it on Facebook. Example, she was in her kitchen while hubby was deer hunting nearby. She prayed he’d get a deer, and praise jeebus, a shot rang out. He got a deer.
Therefore, God answers prayers.
my son is in the navy and during basic training, he received (earned) Eagle Eye for shooting skills. comes to me and says, "i'm a natural. i've never shot before." -- now i equate this to praying for a deer kill, because he has turned to god in his adult life... but as a child, in scouts, i taught this boy how to shoot. first with a slingshot, next a bow and arrow, cross bow, and finally one of the achievements was calling in a rep from the NRA to teach the scouts safety and shooting with a rifle. not a natural. practice and work, learning the mechanics of shooting (science?) ... but yeah okay ... you're a natural shot. hope god puts your target in front of your bullet kid. ha!
The decanters: find an auction house that works on commission, you will get far more $$$ and no strangers snooping your house. An established auction house has lots of lists of collectors for everything.
She was frightened about your phone being busy for so long & used the "computer thing"as an excuse so she wouldn't have to admit she had visions of you lying on the floor with phone in hand, having had a stroke or heart attack in the middle of dialing 911. Good grief !
So, you know my mother???
There was one day i went to check on her after a car accident and found an unfinished jigsaw puzzle, crackers, and half a glass of iced tea on her dining room table. I posted a picture on faceback asking if i had missed the rapture.
@Lillyfield41 just like mine (RIP)
Goddammit, WHAT ARE THE DECANTERS WORTH? Don't leave us hanging like that.
Call a sister or brother (whichever is more gullible, hopefully that's a family trait too ), tell them mom gave you some bottles worth 60 bucks each and you don't have time to sell them, but you'll sell them for 45 each and they can keep the extra money for doing the actual selling.
i found a VERY SIMILAR decanter to a purple glass whiskey flask I got for 5 bucks selling for $120.... I found another bottle with the same markings of a square clear glass bottle I have selling for almost $200. I'm probably sitting on a goldmine! Cash poor, but glass rich!
I'm not sure my siblings will be on board with giving me money upfront. AND, I can't risk the emotional distress of my mother discovering I couldn't complete the mission alone.
Hashtag: i'll find a sucker.
@Lillyfield41 curiosity got the better of me so I've been looking up soda bottles from 1976. You'll definetly need to find a sucker - good luck.
I can't risk the emotional distress of my mother discovering I couldn't complete the mission alone.
Just turn your phone off for a couple days. It'll be fine.
If ya don’t laugh.. ya gotta cry!!
I laugh to keep from screaming. I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop!
