@sassygirl3869 Eugenics has an extremely Long history here in the states.It was all the "Rage" in the early 1/4 of the 20th century.

Human's are over-reproducing. I agree.

But I think reproduction is still a strong drive for many.

Some of us just put it into pets etc.... Which totally explains the cat phenomenon.

Actually in the US right now there is a war on reproductive rights and who controls them.

I'm not opposed to people having children they want - that they can care for.

It's the folks being forced to have children because they don't have access to birth control or abortion that worries me considerably more than this turn of events.

I don't think it will ever be an easy thing to have a Uterine transplant. Or a Testicular Transplant.

I went to a Fertility clinic when I went through my Sub Total Hysterectomy - the Doctors in Boston were some of the first who could do that surgery laproscopically.
What I heard some of those women discussing in the waiting room - just sounded rough. I was kind of glad I was at the Acceptance point in my life where I knew I wouldn't give birth to my own biological children and I was okay with it. (Mostly).

It is a very primal drive to have kids. Probably THE primal drive. People will drive themselves past the brink of reason for it.

Yes there are too many kids on this planet.

Hopefully we proceed with caution.

It also strikes me as something viable in the future for Trans folk. But that's an entirely new discussion.

If I still had a uterus I think I'd be willing to donate it like everything else when I die.
It is just an incubator.

The ethics get weird when you talk about eggs or sperm though. That's your actual biological material getting passed along. IDK that I trust any human enough to be handing them eggs. lol

@RavenCT all valid points..and thanks for bring up transpeople. This experimental Genital Transplant procedure gives hope to Transmen to able to live their lives as close to normal as possible. As to the uterine transplant, I truly hope that it becomes a reality in the future. Both of these procedures will help save the lives of many young transwomen/men.

I had no idea we were this far along in the science of it. I have no idea if these surgeries are any more or less complex than what bottom surgery is like now. (Other than finding the right donor of course).

I obviously need to do more reading because it's pretty amazing.

@RavenCT Sweden was the 1st country to transplant a uterus, it was donated between sisters.That was 5 years ago, it's apparently being taken as a serious possibility in some cases...it's still considered experimental.
Yes bottom surgery has advanced since I first considered going for it. Until I found out they simply cut everything off and gave you a hole. No sensation at all just a hole.Today they use 95% of penile tissue in constructing a functional vagina..right down to a clitoris!..

@Charlene Yes! Thank goodness they've figured out what they're doing. (And of course it should have been obvious from a Biology standpoint but I'm guessing medicine had to catch up with techniques and information).

They can also use part of a person's colon to do the M to F surgery. (which becomes self-lubricating apparently). I've done a little research and viewed a M to F surgery online. (Which is when I figured out I'd never make a good surgeon). It was worth viewing - because it was amazing!

It also put my concerns to rest - should anyone I know ever do that. (Which is a possibility) I prefer to know exactly what's going to happen over misinformation any day. Way less anxiety.

Not that I don't freak when someone has surgery - but less so if I know what to expect.

@NoPlanetB no, I don't live by that, but if it's a right that only those who can afford it get to have, how is that a right? Thats a privilidge.
