I admit to the following as precursors to the below question:
I stopped following the news over a year ago as I feel no news agency is unbiased.
I am not knowledgable about how our government bureaucratic legal machine should work.
So: I'm posting this question, looking for non-partisan input. I'm not advocating or defending anything. I'm just puzzled.
President Trump, during a speech, said that the four freshman representatives, primarily known from AOC's activities, should "go back where they came from", as well as other derogatory remarks, that can be construed as racist.
Directing racist remarks at individuals in a public place is considerd a hate crime and the perpetrator can be charged, tried, and if found guilty, jailed. It is an impeachable offence.
So, why has no impeachment action been initiated against President Tump?

Presidents get away with illegal wars, extrajudicial assassinations etc.

He wants a impeachment vote to be exonerated by the Senate and win the election

Makes sense.

1

"Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body levels charges against a government official. It does not mean removal from office; it is only a statement of charges, akin to an indictment in criminal law. Once an individual is impeached, he or she must then face the possibility of conviction by a legislative vote, which judgment entails removal from office." (Wikipedia definition)

Short answer..the Republican controlled Senate will not convict, 45 gets "exonerated " & the Dems take a major hit in an election year. Mitch McConnell has a stranglehold on the Senate....& unless the American electorate turns out in landslide numbers to vote this utter & dangerous embarrassment out of office, we endure 4 more years & permanent damage on a global scale. (Edited to correct spelling errors)

Impeachment isn't about crime. Regardless of debate about the ethics of ability/ inability to criminally indight a sitting president, impeachment is about deciding that a president simply isnt fit to serve, not about specifying he broke the law. Thats why Clinton was dragged through impeachment hearings because of his sex life.

2

And Pelosi takes heed from President Clinton's farcical impeachment. The persecutors lost the following election.

Good point.

4

According to the Justice Dept a sitting president can't be charged or arrested in office. Must wait till he leavess office.

I believe that's correct.

Christian Science Monitor is unbiased & not religious contrary to its name.

Because the Senate will never remove him & Speaker of the House doesn't wish to distract from his defeat by engaging in an unpopular & a failed attempt at removing him, via impeachment. The country will suffer more than if we remove him by elections. Mitch is only permitting the approval of judges by the Senate to reach the floor for a vote. Replacing POTUS in 2020 is where the energy should focus according to Warrior Princess Pelosi. Then locking him up in Rikers, unless he flees to Moscow, Pyongyang or Rihad. Chess anyone?

The house has to pass articles of impeachment, then the Senate has a trial to actually impeach. The Senate has made it clear they will not act upon any articles passed by the house, thus making Trump above the law.

Our system clearly sucks and is clearly broken. Sorry, rest of the world.

If your reply is accurate, and I've no reason to doubt it, he's the teflon President.

@bigpawbullets it's incredibly simplified, but essentially accurate.

It's the result of party over principle.

Actually, the system is clearly NOT broken, and is set up this way for a good reason. I'll not bore you here, but strongly suggest you let the .gov website explain it better than I could.. The paragraph 'Historical Development' explains it best. [cop.senate.gov]

@bigpawbullets Teflon? Mesmeric cult leader. The concept of "shooting someone on 5th avenue " is in god's plan.

@Captain_Feelgood
Interesting reading. Thanks for the source.

@Captain_Feelgood it is in that one party has put the party over the country blah blah blah. I'd elaborate but past experience has shown that to be pointless.

@1of5 Blah blah blah? No, you would elaborate if you had something worth adding,,, but you don't.. Thanks anyway. I think we're done here. 😒👍
