Thanx~she stated that eloquently. Its a fact that needs to
be reversed since OUR futures are totally minimallized
unless we bring women's POTENTIAL to the same level as
men's. Barely functioning, comes to mind if a society
keeps 50%of population out of decisions!!!!
The only men who do that are not confident ofheir own masculinity.
I don't think that only applies to women ... men challenging the status quo suffer too
Men do suffer when they challenge the status quo, but it's not because they are men.
I agree that this statement reflects the reality of our culture. And this fire has forged some very strong women.
Read this somewhere recently ;- Why women are superior to men
Give them some sperm and they will make a baby
Give them some food and they will make a meal
Give them a house and they will make a home.
Give a woman an education as good as that given to men, and the same opportunities, and respect, and she'll do everything a man can do.
Such a pity all societies didn't realise this thousands of years ago. Just imagine where we'd be right now if we hadn't held back or completely ignored half of all the great engineers, scientists and doctors that were ever born!
Except we are hardly ever just "given" anything. We earn the food and the house, and especially the sperm, before we make it into something that benefits a partner
How marvelously sexist.
@OwlInASack given by whom?
@OwlInASack I was given the basic K-12 education everybody else got. I was not given any education higher than that, nor was I ever given any opportunities to better my situation. I sought and competed for them and/or earned the money to pay for them, though.
The real reasons for the differences between men and women is that evolution prepared us for different tasks. We are wired differently.
Evolution doesn't "prepare" anyone for anything, as this would require some sort of guiding force to plan for the future. Also, your comment bears no relevance to the quote in the meme.
that may have been true but it definatly shouldnt still be the case. i think all governments should be 50% woman myself.
@LeighShelton then run for office!
@Jnei Oh course it does - evolution prepares all species for their upcoming lives. We all have millions of generations of ancestors that have past down their skills. Women were in charge of raising children, gathering food, making clothes, etc. while men made fire, built shelters, hunted game, protected the family - different roles for millions of years. This wiring doesn't diminish quickly, over the last few hundred years the lines have become less clear, but it still exists.
@LucasfromGR im not a woman
@LeighShelton well your certainly not going to be with that attitude
@LucasfromGR Quotas are wrong - the most qualified person should get the job.
@gater Why are you tagging me? I never said anything regarding quotas or even equity of outcome. Are you trolling me?
@LucasfromGR i don't want to be
@OwlInASack Good point - with early man I envision them strategizing on how to catch a wild pig, or how to work together to bring down larger game. Strategizing on how to build a proper shelter for warmth and safety.
Its my belief that mens brains are more wired for strategy and analytical thinking, and thats why men dominate science.
@OwlInASack At this point it remains a theory, a very plausible one to me.
And it would help explain why AOC is so stupid
@gater men dominate science because of patriarchal societal mores that have been a hindrance to women in the field for centuries, and perhaps millenia. It has nothing to do with how our brains are wired or which gender is more strategic or analytical. Any woman in history who has managed to break through the misogynistic boundaries around science has done so because she has proven to be extraordinarily brilliant in comparison to brilliant men. Mediocre men get to hold positions of power and authority very often, but a woman has to be better than the best men to attain the same level of control over her position.
@gater Have you ever really studied how the old, still living, native culture in the world still works?
I have and a part of it is in my heritage.
Truly Aboriginal Australian Natives still work completely together in hunting , etc, the only gender 'divisions' are in the separate Lores ( Rites, etc,) governing Mens' 'Business' and Women's Business' the rest is a kind of mutual cooperative system DESPITE what the modern 'experts' would have us believe.
What I observe, from your comments about evolution, is that you're a monkey.
@gater There are still some tribal clans of Australian Aboriginals here still live very much as they did over 40,000 years and their predecessor did long before they crossed over into Australia from Asian/Indonesian region.
As I said earlier, the Anthropologist/Archaeologists are simply hypothesising using recent to modern standards as a guide BECAUSE No-one in this day and age truly KNOWS for absolutely certain exactly how the early/earliest humans would behaved, etc.
@OwlInASack AOC is a moron
@OwlInASack her ideas are moronic - can I make it clearer for you?
@OwlInASack She has no understanding of climate change, economics, or anything else that I can see - apparently she does know how to make a margarita - but this does not qualify her for Congress.
@OwlInASack That's sounds nice but shes a moron.
@gater It's pretty clear that you don't really have a valid arguments here, but only opinions. And your opinions don't seem to be rooted in anything resembling facts. As a student of anthropology, I can drive a truck through the holes in several of your claims regarding evolution and prehistory, and your claim about AOC being a moron is so obviously erroneous that it can't be taken seriously. Let the big kids talk now.
@OwlInASack I provide morons with facts.
@OwlInASack How about this - when AOC claimed the illegal aliens were told to drink out of toilets - The toilets and sinks are one unit - no one ever said for them to drink out of the toilet bowls - but this moron congress person thought that - that is just plain stupid.
@OwlInASack What you and I find impressive are two different things
America is an indecipherable puzzle to the rest of the world -- and not only because of the Trump effect. The US has the most outspoken and achieving women in the world -- tens upon tens of millions of them -- but the country is still waiting for its first woman president. And that's not an isolated case. The first US woman astronaut came nearly a quarter century after the first Russian one. And to this day the advent of Christa McAuliffe in a space shuttle (who was the other lady on board?) is spoken of as a daring, glorious experimental pioneer.
All very true, but what if the caption was paired with a picture of an Imam?
Would it still have the same effect or does the picture present a bias?
@OwlInASack Just wondering how much emphasis the words are given by the association. The words are so true, but would they be accepted as so if the picture was a Trump or OJ Simpson.
Does the picture give the text more authority?
And if so, we need to be aware of the associations, generally, that we are being presented with. Covert control if you like.
You don't put a picture of a CAR beside a baking recipe. You put a Picture of a CAKE.
You put a picture of a woman beside a quote about women because it's a quote about women. It's not Bias. Having said that....thinking there might be a bias in the picture shows there might be a bias in the person looking at it
Anyone out there think there is a CAKE bias going on???
She is so refreshingly intelligent and unafraid to speak her mind! Wishing her safety!
@ProudMerrie She's young yet...but, given time...she can do a lot of good in government.
