I bought a 40' sailboat. I'm refitting her and planning to sail around the world. I'll most likely quit my job, but I'm software engineer so I can work from almost anywhere. See the world, explore, meet people.

I don't want to quit my job but if I could hire great people to run my business, I would travel to different parts of the world to help rescue street dogs, feral cats, injured/orphaned wild life, etc.

Traveling is definitely on my to do list... But I'm currently focused on having babies...

@Cutiebeauty I don't want to travel just to travel. I want to help save unfortunate animals especially in places where there are a lot of stray abandoned street animals, many of them sick, injured, mangy, starving. I'm definitely not focusing on having babies since I don't like kids and babies (human ones anyway).

I am already doing it, but I would travel more, travel a lot more. Travel writer perhaps.

I did, and I am...doing exactly what I want to do. Riding my bicycle, enjoying the fresh air and warmth of southern Florida, visiting the beach now and then, and a lot of time writing.

Enjoy life..😁

You hush! Unless you give details! 😂

@Cutiebeauty go back to school and get a degree in physics..specializing in quantum mechanics.

@Charlene that's great!

3

Probably get more degrees so I can learn as much about the world as humanly possible

I'd choose to be a race car driver.

Stay at home dad

I was semi retired at 42, and a stay at home dad, there is nothing better.

Beach house, one of the rare ones with few neighbors. Warm climate. Massive outdoor screen. Couple friends. Mario Kart. Copious amount of alcohol.

Hey, where you been? Haven't heard from you in awhile. .

@Cutiebeauty Had to go figure some things out personally ya know? Got a new job, moved to a new place, etc.

Good to talk to you again.

2

Go off the grid, high (both figuratively, and literally) in the Colorado Rockies!

2

I did and I do, I look after my family, walk my dog and write.

..I’d purchase a home in a progressive enclave in the country, perhaps a tourist town known for something cultural. Don’t know that I’d want to totally ‘retire,’ but put if off some while staying connected to said community working at something I enjoyed.. I’d get a motorcycle and tour the magnificent countryside! I’d go where I want, sleep when tired, eat when hungry and play when inspired … while keeping an eye open for a compatible & desirable mate & partner in crime ..moonshine maybe 😉

Depends upon how much money is available.

How about two thousand a month?

@Cutiebeauty After addressing numerous home repair, improvement, and maintenance projects, I would then focus on climate change solutions. In particular, addressing the problems of transportation fuels and renewable electricity storage, as well as CO2 capture and sequestration.

I've come to the conclusion that transitioning to electric vehicles won't happen quickly enough to avert long-term damage. I just don't see that 11 years is enough time to replace 250 million vehicles, and that's in the USA alone. However, I think switching to biomass-based renewable fuels is feasible within that 11-year timeframe. It won't require vehicles to be modified and most infrastructure would remain as is. Renewable fuels are drop-in replacements, made to the same specifications as fossil fuels, but derived from plants. Not only is the technology proven, there are even large-scale biorefineries in use already. It's more a matter of building capacity, both biorefineries and biomass production.

Some of the same technology for biomass-based renewable fuels could be applied to storing renewable electricity, which is the biggest problem in switching off fossil fuels for elecricity production. This area needs more prototyping, but would utilize renewable electricity to convert biomass into a fuel, which could then be utilized to produce electricity on demand.

As for CO2, there's the approach of mineralization by the electrolysis of seawater. It's unclear to me that this technology actually removes CO2 from seawater (and thus from the atmosphere, as the oceans absorb CO2 from the air), so I'd like to see some peer-reviewed research done to ascertain that. If it proves to be true, then it just needs to be deployed on a massive scale, utilizing electricity from renewable sources.

Of course, that amount of money isn't enough to do all that on my own, but it would probably be enough for me to make faster progress on those things.

Well, when I get my pension, I will be doing my music and go back to tango. I will definitely become a grumpy old geezer, spending my time playing cards and dominoes with my old geezer friends getting drunk on beer or wine... 😛

Want a better job.

1

probably work full time on all my projects.

What projects do you have Rick?

@Cutiebeauty From another post I just answered about hobbies...

I blacksmith, coppersmith, target shoot, build weapon systems from the ground up (For target shooting), reload, build custom PCs and laptops, woodworking, yard work (yes, some I consider a hobby!) hiking the area, building functional things from scratch, fixing things that were never meant to be fixed and generally working projects around my house!

I get to all of them as needed to keep them fresh and fun.

@RiverRick is that all? Seems kinda lazy to me! 😊😜😂😂😱😱

@Cutiebeauty I have those days every now and then too! 😉

golf, drink, lots of sex & smoke weed which i did at 42.

First I would travel the world 4 a year. Then I would hire a personal trainer and tennis instructor to keep fit, and a drum teacher and vocal coach to pursue my love of music.

I quit / retired when I was 54. Built a house on 1 acre beach front property on the Pacific Ocean , sail often, help friends, volunteer for a number of non profit organizations, make beer and wine, cut firewood, garden, landscape, travel .......
My life is a “ working Holiday “...no time to sit and be bored!!!
