I hate to say this, but now that the senate voted 100% on releasing the documentation on trump's phone call with the Ukraine, it's looking like a set up. You get one shot at impeachment and it seems like this may be an intentional way of having it wasted. The senate never agrees 100% on anything that would go against trump. What are your thoughts on this?
"You get one shot at impeachment"????????? Who says? One shot per violation of each law......
It was a quote from one of the folks working on the Mueller investigation. He explained that if you fail to impeach a sitting president, any follow up attempts are viewed as harassment. It's not a written law by any degree but likely holds truth.
I can imagine some passive aggressive take on the release... "see, we examined the document (heavily redacted) and theres nothing to see, and were not doing this again"
There is no way to know if the transcript, if it truly is released, won't be tampered or altered to make it more benign that what it really is. One prominent Democratic politician says that he doubted than tampering would occur because of the legalities that will follow. Trump and his minions have shown a complete disregard for the rule of law on numerous times in the past. So his argument may not hold water.
Following the release tomorrow of the transcript, the actual whistleblower and his legal counsel are scheduled to appear before the intelligence committee later this week. So any changes in the transcript will be illuminated at that time.
