Wouldn't it be awesome if an extraterrestrial came down to earth and told everyone they made up the concept of god and we're all a bunch of idiots for believing in god rather than science? Maybe they would clean the planet up for us? Yeah, that'd be asking too much.

If they were similar to us (humanoid-ish) we might personally survive as slaves and not be eaten... But think of why we are looking to get off Earth... Over population and we are fucking up this planet so bad we need another.
It would be right to think the reason aliens might be interested in us is for;
- Natural resources
- We'd make a tasty food source.

He would likely be viewed as the anti Christ, or an imposter of some sort to people of faith. He may be right to call us a bunch of idiots.
I believe that Hawking and other physicists were wise to warn us that our curiosity into alien life could also destroy us. Some movies depict these encounters as being "cool" but we have no idea what this could mean for humanity and its pursuit could come at a high cost.

Agree. Look at all of our technology and how we use much of that technology to kill or harm others. They might want to kick our ass just because they can.
