Thank god [sic] that the holiday is over!
I can't wait for January. But I especially I can't wait for the sun to come back.
I'm always glad when January rolls around and We can all get back to living our regularly scheduled lives. {And can start losing the holiday weight)
Good grief! Does your life revolve around the scheduled holy days? Fuck'em! Celebrate the winter solstice any way that you want!
@Atheist3 While I don't do it because of religious beliefs I like the concept of being nice to other humans and giving gifts and eating meals together. Reconnecting with family and friends that might have gotten distant over the course of the year and celebrating life. Unfortunately while I am retired and not subject to time constraints, most are not that lucky and have to use the time given off at work in order to enjoy the occasions.
@joeandbarb Yeah, the festive year is all geared around religious holi days. Be creative - ya never know, you might start a trend!
Yes....we're done with the I'm thankful BS and the Turkey dinners. But only 24 more shopping days until the next fiasco.
You can eat Turkey anytime you want...don't need a holiday....But thank you for your comment...I love your name....it sounds so ........I don't have a word to describe it...@Gwendolyn2018
You have a lovely name.....@Gwendolyn2018
@nicknotes it sounds gaelic and ethereal
I agree with that sentiment, even though I don't usually feel that way about Thanksgiving.
@Gwendolyn2018 Yes I completely understand.
I don't do holidays anymore. It just seems silly to me now. I am always happy when they are over. I do like the time off of work with pay, if I'm looking for the bright side, but no more decorating or spending money foolishly for me.
Same here for me. Appreciate the time off, but can do without the insanity that goes with this time of year. And the worst of it is still to come with Xmas and the advertising blitz.
Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday.
Agree but Christian made this day their own. Thanksgiving is a secular day and is in memory of Native Amercan who lost their lives and land in European hands.
Celebrating The Thanksgiving Holiday: What the Bible Says

What the Bible Says about Thanksgiving Holiday
Pastors Bud & Betty Miller on Thanksgiving Holiday
Christians look forward to the time of the year when we celebrate two important holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. These holidays have their beginnings and roots in Christian celebrations. The word holiday actually means “holy day”; hence these events should be remembered and celebrated in a holy manner. We have strayed from that purpose over the years as we have embraced many unholy practices and worldly customs and added them to our “holy days.”

@Cecilia2018 sorry but nobody made them kings of the country and thus can't make thanksgiving their property, the bible claim is ridiculous because the pilgrims came here in the XVI century and thanksgiving is all about the natives who saved them, they can say all the bullshit they want that doesn't make thanksgiving religious.
@Gwendolyn2018 perspective of the brainwadhed? Puhleeze!
@Gwendolyn2018 the brainwashed hypocrites think every fucking day is a religious ocasion, You want to conform ro that crap?
@Gwendolyn2018 you make your own choices and are fully responsible for what you decide. If you eant to choose religious crap it's up to you. I chose logic, evidence and reason a long time ago.
@Gwendolyn2018 you chose to defend it, "depends on who you ask", "it's a matter of perception", I didn't write those comments, you did. I know a good teacher who can teach you how to write and read.
@Gwendolyn2018 Oh, dear...another A**hole in the bunch. It doesn't pay to give them any words, because they twist them so that they feel like they are "right." I understood exactly what you were trying to say, btw.
@Gwendolyn2018 sure continue to insult dissenting opinions, great teacher btw, go play with yourself and get some humility in the process oh holier than thou pedagogue.
@Gwendolyn2018 Really? Where? I dare you to show me one, just one, expletive directed to you.
Love it!
Great comedian loved his movies .
I had a houseful of people! Teenagers had their annual Boysgiving. They cooked their own turkey with all the sides, stayed up all night gaming and having a grand time. The rest of us abandoned ship, by request, and went to a hotel with a pool for the night. The rest of the weekend was a whirlwind of cooking and eating and guests from all over the country. A handful of guests missed their ride home up north and are still with us! I could use a few more days off, but it’s back to work tomorrow!
I suffer holiday phobia until after my birthday in January! I dread and try to ignore it as long as possible. I do my best and participate without acting grumpy, but nippy with enthusiasm. I don’t decorate, but allow my sister and her husband to decorate when they stay at my house for the holiday. My job is to get it al down and stored as quickly as possible after Christmas is over and they leave !
I actually enjoy Thanksgiving. I made the dinner this year myself and had my mom, son, his wife and two boys, my ex wife and her son, and her niece and husband. No gifts, just good food and nice conversation.
I looovve any holiday whatsoever! Decorations! Special Events! Lovely Foods!
Back to work as normal on Monday, where they will start decorating for some stupid contest. (roll eyes) They can put a garland at the end of my desk, but nothing else.
If only it were the middle of January!!
@Gwendolyn2018 I want to give everyone a little extra time to take down all the decorations.
my birthday is in Jan, I can wait.
@Gwendolyn2018 its been more than a few years since I have had a genuinely good birthday, I've baked my last few cakes myself. not all that bad, just wouldn't mind some good company.
