I may be thankful for hearing loss after all. I don't pay much attention to background music, even though I keep a radio on at home and in the car. I have switched to a station that doesn't play much xmas music now. If the song has been played already I haven't noticed, and I loathe the song. Not as much as I loathe the Xmas shoes song. I hope I never hear that sucky song again.

There's a song about shoes? Oh dear.
This song makes me want to blow my brains out. YOU ARE WARNED. It is treacle. It is deliberately playing with your emotions. It is the most gawdawful thing I've ever heard. I have hated it since the first time I ever heard it, even when I was a believer. Jeebus doesn't give a damn about the shoes. Oy, totally that bad.
@HippieChick58 Holy fucknuckles! You have to have been (or known) a Cancer patient at Christmas to know how extra appalling this one is!
@RavenCT My mom died of Ovarian Cancer on Nov 6th, so a tad before the holidays, I was 14. Even as a kid I never believed what she wore would have mattered. So much for gawd judging us for our hearts. The whole song has always made me so very angry. It deliberately plays on the emotions and the theology is just flat wrong. I spent too many years leading or participating in buybull studies. The advantage is I know buybull BS when I see it, and this song it totally BS. And now that I have stirred all this up again, I need to stuff it all back down and hope I can sleep tonight. 
Hmmm, booze, benadryl, tea, or other....
@HippieChick58 Yup the very worst that sort of thing can offer. That was a huge crock of bull. I'll be fine if I hear 'Wham' in place of this one forever!

@RavenCT I did sleep OK, but I read for too long. The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat. Fascinating stuff, our brains can be weird.
@HippieChick58 I remember reading about that. TBI cases right? Yet they survived.
@RavenCT Not all were TBIs, some were just flukes and most were still living. Our brains are weird and wonderful things. I wish to hell that mine would shut up sometimes. One of my quirks is I like big and unusual words. That gets me into trouble at work, I need to keep my language at a 5th grade level when I am on the phone with families, and then one of the $5 words comes out of my mouth. And my line is recorded... oy.
@HippieChick58 lol Reading and retaining great words or having a family with great vocabs will do that. I used to slide my verbal meter a lot at work - for whoever I was talking to.
But every now and then? 'The Look' the one of pure bafflement.
We were taught as kids to go look it up when we didn't know - and I'll still ask someone what a word meant.
English is an enormous and fluid language.
And yes our brains are amazing.
I'll win as I refuse to listen to xmas music.
