What was the first movie that made you cry afterwards? Mine was "Bridge to Terabithia." At 15, that movie touched me so much and I was completely crushed. I haven't watched it since. It really moved me, so I do add it to one of my top favorite movies. I had no idea about the movie and the ending was so shocking, random, and sudden.
Old Yeller.....and after that, and reading Black Beauty, I have steadfastly refused to be that manipulated again.
Likely it was Schindlers List, my second favorite movie ("I HAVE A TOP 100" he announced, proudly.) Mom and sis went to see it at our towns prized jewel, the Rose theater the night it won best picture. I didn't know it was a Spielberg film so I stayed behind. They came back looking like death kissed them on the cheek. Then a year later, when it came out on VHS (remember those?) me and dad watched it. I was in 7th grade, so early teens. Don't know if you saw the film, but there's a scene where the Schindler women workers are "accidentally" shipped to the Auschwitz death camp, before which they had been talking about rumors of the notorious showers. They're taken off the train, stripped, humiliated and herded into the shower room and the camera puts you right in the center of the action. I was sitting there, warm house, snowy day outside, doggy on my lap and I fucking feel like I'M about to be gassed. That scene alone punches you in the face and kicks you in the ribs when you're down.
Schindlers list is one of the all time best ever.
@freeofgod It really is and I have it on DVD, but if I watch it more than once a year, that's frequent.
