My grandma told me that a Christian evangelist told her yoga isn't good. He also said that god drops rubies, gold, and diamonds (in certain churches/houses) from heaven because that's god's way of advertising "miracles, signs, and wonders."
What???? Lol. That is one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard in my life. I blame these so called prophet phonies for others' delusions. They prey off the vunerable who want to believe so badly.
Now she thinks she will recieve rubies in her house.....this sector of Christianity is so out there, most Christians don't even believe in this.
Link below is one of the prophet's websites.
Was that piece written by G. Ullible and D. Eluded, by any chance?
Sorry, but the words "durable Power of Attorney" spring to mind here, if she was formerly more reasonable.....
Well don’t know what you’d do with rubies and diamonds.
If God was that smart he’d cut out the middle man and leave a few grand lying around in some ad hoc fashion
Looks like some pretty serious chicanery going on there. Well, you probably know how the gambling houses work . . . it is a system that rewards someone just enough to get them to start to believe that if they lay their money down, the might just win a fortune, it is the way the lottery works too. It is just as likely that the parasites who deceive and rob these people work the same way, all they have to do is prime the pump now and then, so then others hear about this "miracle of god", and start believing it might happen to them, if only they follow the correct path, which usually means surrender your soul to the geezzusss, and he will take care of your needs.
"One obstacle to liberty, is the poisonous role played by fellow primates of mine, who think they can tell me what to do, in the name of god, because god has told them that they have this power. So that is one thing I would like to be shot of, right here in the here and now, and my suspicion is, if they really are so religious, where do they want power, in what world they care about, the next one, or this one . . . . . it will be this one every time because they too, know perfectly well, that this is the only life we have got." Christopher Hitchens
It is interesting just how materialistic they all are, rubies, gold, and diamonds . . . . their putative paradise . . . streets of gold . . . .
Well, it sounds like grandma has been dropping something, to put it in sixties hippie vernacular.
Astor-physicists and astronomers have never found any evidence of those particals flying through space. All of their research also shows particle movement that is about 13.7 billion years old. So, if a 'god' is doing those things its 'heaven' that can't be seen by science, and is out of its current sight, it is using/hiding things from scientists who like to learn
I wouldn't believe that crap when I was Christian and I almost want to laugh my ass off now.
@vjohnson51 I've always wondered about this. If religion didn't exist, would people gravitate to other unsupported beliefs? I'm thinking crystals, ghosts, chemtrails, etc.
@vjohnson51 It's sad, but it's easier to believe an lie, than the truth. That's how Trump got elected. I take it that your grandma is religious.
@vjohnson51 At least your grandmother doesn't have alzheimers like my late grandma did. Who died from colon cancer at 80.5. I miss her.
@vjohnson51 Your right about Pence and he is crazy if he thinks I will go therapy for being who I am. Today I have started think about again of coming out of the closet to rest of the world and see where it takes me.
@vjohnson51 I think most people won't have a problem with it. It's immediate family is my main concern. How my mom says homo erks me,etc.
A lot of Christians think yoga is suspect or evil because of its origin in eastern religion. Particularly the charismatics and pentecostals, who often develop more of a fear of Satan than of God. Yoga and meditation and so forth are seen as Trojan horses so to speak, to open you and yours and your home to evil spirits.
I have no idea what the precious gems thing is about. I assume hey are not talking literal gemstones, but are trying to get people looking for hidden blessings in their everyday lives to get excited about. That could go either way -- it might promote positive thinking or it might promote disillusionment. In the meantime though I suspect it promotes donations, so who cares.
@vjohnson51 All-righty then, they're going for people's greed I guess, which makes me a little less incensed but not much.
@vjohnson51 Tell me about it. My ex mother in law was convinced god was talking to her through the radio in her living room. Drove my late wife to distraction but there was nothing we could really do about it. I think she was originally into Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker and went downhill from there.
@vjohnson51 They went down in scandal long ago. Jim went to prison, and the couple divorced. Jim is now back on a much reduced scale, hawking survival food to his followers. Tammy is out of the limelight, I think, and remarried.
I was taught that Yoga was demonic. Actually, anything that did not point to directly to Jesus was seen as demonic.
@vjohnson51 I was raised mostly going to Conservative Baptist churches and taught to believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible (according to how my mom interpreted it, anyway). I was taught to believe that demons are everywhere trying to undermine Jesus.
My daughter once had her pager (this was years ago) come up missing when she was staying at my mom's. Two of my young nephews were also there and my daughter suggested that one of them probably took it (they were known for getting into trouble for various things).
My mother's reply was that she would believe demons did it before thinking it was one of the boys. It was later found in one of the bathrooms, hidden in the cupboard under some towels.
@vjohnson51 I don't think my mother ever suffered from paranoia--at least not any of a clinical kind; just from the indoctrination of a religion that taught her that demons are real.
