For those with no subscription (honestly I too have no sub I just caught it while researching the current issue in India). It basically states that the BJP is trying to impose a facist style rule in India regarding lead by hindu nationalistic movement via a citizenship registry which will upset many muslims/non-muslims here. It's basically the endgame for Trump in the US if his ban on Mexicans/Muslims had successfully passed. It;s more worrying now bc the BJP is in complete dominance and this can get passed.
I have to subscribe to Washington Post to read the article.
No I’m not really interested in subscribing, perhaps you could give us a brief run down of the information as it’s not available to non subscribers?
I would need to know what the article is about before I click on it. I don't want to waste my very limited articles that I get here on something I don't care to read.
It's regarding the current situation here in India about the citizenship registry imposed by Modi's BJP govt.
I would like to read this but a huge pink box with no ''x" pops up immediately so I cannot see the article. Tried 3x, same thing......
Another power hungry asshole like trump who is perfectly happy to stir up the religious crap.
It's ironic that during the time of The Raj when India was a British colony, Hindus and Muslims coexisted peaceably but after independence and partition they were at each others throats
Mmm anything to do with repression do you think?
@girlwithsmiles I don't think so although there were some atrocities such as the Armristar massacre when General Dyer ordered his troops to fire on a peaceable demonstration which killed hundreds.
Partition was badly handled with the border between India and the new Pakistan being drawn on a map by an English civil servant and the British probably played the opposing religious groups against one another for their own ends.
@Moravian I read a story once about Pakistan and India going to war and it said that friends were fighting against friends because of the way the borders were. I wondered how true it was. It was a very sad story.
@girlwithsmiles Yes, I think there is truth in that. Hindu,Muslim and Sikh's coexisted peaceably but after parttition former friends found themselves on opposite sides in the battles between Pakistan and India. They still have occaisional skirmishes over Kashmir which has a predominantly Muslim population but India wants to rule the area. Both of those unstable countries have nuclear weapons which is a worry and ultra nationalists like Modi is making the situation worse.
Everywhere religion is involved it is guaranteed to go to shit at some point.
Yes!
Repetitive death and murder in their so called god(s)name!!!
