I went away for a few hours and returned to having made level 8! I'm confused though because all of a sudden I have 65k points and only 50K are needed to be level 8.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I don't pay much attention to my points or level, but I have noticed that I seem to have been stuck at level 8.3 for a very long time — and I still need to more than double my current points to reach level 9. But I think the first member to reach level 10 wins the website Willy Wonka style.

Congrats -it happens. Everytime I reach a level I always go over. Been working on Level 10 forever! Only 298,000 points to go!

That's most impressive. It shows great involvment.
I had the opposite once. I was away for a couple of months and my points went down!
I think it's because every now and again the site "audits" your points.
Have you ever tried calculating your "points rate"? (Divide your points by the number of days since you joined.)

Get a life!
@Marionville I have a busy one, because I love analysing "stuff". Some of my greatest ideas (which built my company reputation amd gained me much promotion) came from an ability to turn things inside out on the way to developing new circuitry or company policies.
However, I actually look for "offbeat" ideas for the sheer fun of it.

When you reach level 8, you will get a notification... Reply to it with your info and they mail it to you...

@DavidLaDeau We're all rooting for you David. In Australia 'rooting' is a old vulgarism which means having sex, but of course that's not what I mean, but rather supporting you. (Of course, some might be rooting in the other sense... lucky them!

Congrats on hitting level 8! Right after I hit 50,000 points last month, my points jumped to 57,000. I have no idea what happened, but now I feel cheated because you jumped higher than I did lol
