on it.I find it sad actually , misplaced dedication to

I do not believe in astrology. I can not explain why it works, not as a predictor of the future. But as a compatibility reference or personality reference. That kind of thing. It vexes me immensely. I am flummoxed.

Whatever the woman thinks is important is important. If she thinks the kind of car you drive is important, it's important. I think that astrology thing is there to serve as an excuse when the guy isn't hot enough.

It could be important if the people involved in the match believe it is.

Imagine, for example, that Julianne and Simon see each other's photos on Tinder. They find one another sufficiently attractive to want to know more and, as is usually the case, there are many things they like about each other and some they don't; however, there are no obvious deal-breakers and thus they decide to meet.

However, Julianne and Simon aren't particularly bright and are both avid believers in astrology. Therefore, they enter each other's birth details into an app and discover that they are supposedly incompatible, which makes them think any relationship they might have is doomed before it even starts and stop making an effort. Perhaps they still meet, but neither can really be bothered and, just going through the motions, their dinner together is boring and they both just want to go home. Quickly, they go their separate ways in search of new potential partners whom the app and their silly beliefs say are compatible.

Sad, really. They might have fallen in love and spent the rest of their lives together in happiness.

As @1of5 and others point out, there are other things besides the stars that could cause variations due to time of year of conception or birth. Always remember correlation does not imply causality.

I do not believe in star signs despite my being atypical of pretty much any label you could slap on me and yet being a totally typical pisces. I chalk this up to the random nature of our experiences combined with our universal urge to find not onky meaning but irony in all the randomness.

What a mother eats while the fetus is developing has an impact on the brains development, especially during the 3rd trimester (or second, can't remember which). Different foods were available during different times of the year so kids born in December had different foods consumed by thier mothers than kids born in June.

This site seems to fall on the side of anti-woo.

Talk of astrological signs is an immediate turnoff for me.

It does seem to be prevalent in the liberal anti christian community though so sometimes I find it forgivable.

I heard a science podcast once about birthmonth having possible effects on people. It was about the modern school system with strict grades by age. being on average bigger or smaller or slightly more or less developed depending on your birth month could affect people in similar ways leading to some small similarities based on birth month. Also associating your birthday and your "special time of year" with certain holidays or times of year could have minor effects across a culture. I don't know the origins or validity of this. But I found it thought provoking.

People are apparently easy to delude. What's one more delusion, especially when this isn't the silliest or the most toxic.
