I think the US will not be as harmed by Corona as other cultures because we seem to have the most self isolation of any country I've ever visited.
The very thing that's most uncomfortable about the US may be the thing that saves the bulk of the population.

That does apply to my situation and thousands of others in Western Washington who all live on islands. Good luck with the urban and built up rural areas.
Even here events are being cancelled and schools may be closed.
All those preppers are in their bunkers feeling very validated about now!
[newsweek.com] Young and unafraid of the corona virus pandemic? Good for you. Now stop killing people. From newsweek (by a doctor in europe).

Yes, teacher.
Couldn't we just comment, instead?
What's the point of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted?
The USA has by far the lowest testing rate in the world, meaning it must have far, far more than the known 1,200 cases.
Unless ALL cases are traced and quarantined/cured there's not much benefit to be gained from an isolationist policy.
I believe drumpy has it right now & all his rallies will make us the hardest hit of all.
Even isolated people have deliveries of goods that have been handled by many people and delivered by many more and most people are not as isolated as all that. Get mail? How many postal workers handle it?

I pointed this out in some chronic illness groups. Worst flu I ever had came from the mail. I hadn't left the house or been face to face with any human - so that had to be the source. And this bug lives on hard surfaces!
I think the USA is going to experience far greater problems with it than any other developed nation, due to being the only one where a significant number of people don't receive in-work sickness pay and thus can't self-isolate and can't afford medical treatment.
Except for the 10's of thousands that'll gather for the all importaint sporting event.
And isn't "discuss" a little bossy? Some of us already have doms, you know.
Sporting events are cancelled around the world.....
@AnneWimsey I was referring to the isolationalist culture aspect. College and pro football routnly have crowds of 65,000 to 100,000 attending, basketball 20,000 to 30,000.
And yeah, that's why their cancelled.
@1of5
You think it's bossy that she said to discuss? What else would we do?
Why are you bringing doms into the conversation? Isn't that a bit pervy?
@RoboGraham you really do need everything explained to you in monosyllabic words, don't you?
@1of5
I like that it is a five syllable word to describe words consisting of only one syllable.
Orange non-leader sounds a bit breathless to me.......I hear that is the first symptom. Hey, maybe there is a gawd?!
@Novelty perhaps you need to sleep in the spare room, lols!
The US is the only country where no medical service is ever provided without somebody making a profit. That is why there has been such a delay in testing.
Good point. I hope you’re correct. We Americans like our alone time. At least I do. I also think people with weak immune systems are more likely to get sick with the virus.
Not "sick" - "die". No matter how healthy your immune system, you can get sick. After all, it's part of the same family that causes influenza, but more virulent. The closest comparison is the 'flu outbreak of 1918/19
