Had message sent to my emails today telling me that a daily dose of 5 millilitres of Colloidal Silver and bathing in a solution of Epsom Salts and Bicarbonate of Soda twice EVERY day will prevent you from getting CoVid 19.
What a complete load of Bullshit and bunkum, Colloidal Silver solution is extremely dangerous and cannot be expelled from your body, it just builds up and up eventually turn your skin an ashen blue-grey colour until it finally causes your Liver and Kidneys to fail completely.
Epsom Salts if taken orally are a good emetic and can be a laxative, in a bath they can ease aching muscles but that is about all.
Bicarbonate of Soda in hot water is great for removing corrosion on the battery poles in your car and used sparingly is a good teeth cleaning agent.
But NONE of them is a recognised treatment for ANY medical condition such as viral infections, etc.
If you do develope symptoms malaria drugs have been said to help you. Also, Tamiflu has been said to help.
@DenoPenno Malarial drugs are designed to work on the Malaria Parasite that causes malaria when the Anopheles mosquito has passed it on to you, most basic AntiMalaria drugs mostly allievate the symptoms such as Fever, etc, the heavier Antimalaria drugs are needed to actually destroy the Malaria Parasite.
As with almost ALL viral infections there are very few Anti-viral drugs available and most, unlike the antibiotics, are specific to only certain viruses and the treatment of them, etc.
Most 'over-the counter' Flu remedies have a very limited effect in that they treat/alleviate only the fevers, aches and pains, etc, NOT the actual viral infection.
As a very old but none-the-less effective adage goes, " One should feed a cold and STARVE a Fever.," i.e. drink plenty of fluids with any fever since it works to help flush the viruses and their effects from the system.
So, yes by all means use something like Asparin/Paracetamol to reduce the fever, the aches, etc, BUT drink as much fluids as possible because keep the body well hydrated is ESSENTIAL.
Alex Jones needs to pay off some fines.

I suppose he saw televangelist Jim Bakker hocking a silver solution to cure COVID-19 and figured he could cash in on scamming people too.
Anyone stupid enough to buy a "cure" from Alex Jones or Jim Bakker deserve what they get. No one should reach adulthood and still be that dumb.
Your immune system can only do so much!!!
Just look to the 1917- 1918 Pandemic!
It infected mostly those between 18 to 45 years of age in the beginning!!!
Then when places like Philadelphia did not practice Social Distancing by have a War Bond drive parade within two weeks over 90% of the populace was infected and starting dying in droves, they ran out of coffins!!!
There are always snake oil salesmen and religion has been full of lying con artists since it started, in all forms.
One’s President of the USA right now
The best "cure" is a strong immune system. Prioritize sleep, eat a good diet (there are a lot of different ways to do so, but none include the standard American diet), exercise with intensity 2 or 3 times a week. Don't abuse bad stuff.
Thanks for that advice. I may be one of the lucky ones. My immune system is almost too strong (Lichen planus refers). I insist on sleeping well, and eating well. My weak area is exercise. À votre santé!
I can understand fear being the driver to seek cures from whatever source, but that fear sometimes also brings with it a vulnerability which the unscrupulous amongst us exploit to the maximum. Some of these cures are just plain quackery and dishonest, but others are downright dangerous. There are even a few which may have some scientific logic behind them and may in fact work, but if they do, then why isn’t the medical profession already using them? Common sense and advice from properly qualified doctors and scientists should be what any sensible person follows, not clutching at straws and falling for fake cures purely designed to capitalise on our fears and part us from our money.
No, but France and Germany have good results with this one:
I took Plaquenil for many years to treat RA. It is an anti-malaria drug and also treats immune disorders like RA, lupus, Sjogren's Disease. It is a treatment, not a vaccine.

Methinks we need a "WTF" emoticon here for garbage like this.
Yep!
@SeaGreenEyez Nice meme thingys but I meant one like the thumbs up or laughing face.
Google things before you send anybody any money! Fear makes ya stupid!
Well, Coca Cola was supposed to be a medicine in the beginning. In Portugal we have the expression "selling the snake's lard", which means selling bullshit products. Nothing has really changed...
Yes, but originally Coca Cola contained actual COCAINE so you certainly got a boost for awhile!
"Selling the snake's lard" (Google translate: "Venda da banha de cobra" ) I like that!
@anglophone it's "vender a banha da cobra". Close enough though. Another expression that would mean the same would be "selling a cat for a hare" (vender gato por lebre). This would mean more like conning someone.
@Paddypereira Thank you ever so much for that.
@anglophone, you're welcome!!!
There are so many home and herbal remedies that help various physical problems. If you have a serious problem, then the doctors and hospitals are definitely where you would want to turn. But if you completely reject any form of health care outside of official channels, you are also acting foolishly. Colds, the flu, boils, warts, hemorrhoids and so many other common problems can be cleared up without expensive drugs or doctor visits with safe, common plants that you eat every day. There's no reason not to look outside the box.
If you're stupid enough to believe in this crap you deserve to be scammed!
I disagree (but respectfully so, I hope). I worked for a number of years with students whose powers of cognition were extremely limited for whatever reason. I hold that such people need to be protected by society against such snake oil salesmen.
I once thought as you do, that if you're stupid enough to be scammed, you deserve it. Caveat emptor, right? But then my wife became a caregiver for the elderly, and came home with the most horrendous stories of folks being defrauded. In addition, I have a few relatives who are on the autism spectrum; they're higher functioning, but are extremely susceptible to schemes and scams. Bottom line, I've come to the conclusion that we need stronger consumer protection in this country, with severe penalties, including jail time, for snake oil salesmen who make unsupported claims about their placebos.
@p-nullifidian you and anglophone are talking about people who are impaired. Obviously my comment is not for impaired people but for idiots who follow religious nuts like Jim Bakker who is the Pastor pushing Silver as a god given cure. Read here, this was all over the news last week, covered as a scam by John Oliver from HBO by Howard Stern even earlier: [dailymail.co.uk]
@Mofo1953 I think we can agree that this case proves the point--strong laws need to be enforced to protect consumers from scammers. Unsubstantiated health claims for a given product are illegal and the reason behind the Cease and Desist order. The same fate of the infamous fraudster Kevin Trudeau awaits Jim Bakker, if he persists. Of course, Bakker's already done time, so he knows the drill.
Self-education is highly recommended under these circumstances.
As you say, try hospitals (if you need one) and science (de rigueur).
Or, you could Google whatever is being claimed!
@AnneWimsey Well, I tried Google with "Dr Shyster's Cure All ointment", but it returned zero results. Funny, that.
