We shouldn’t hate Christ as a person in spite of what his philosophy has done to humanity over the course of history. We have to realize it was a different time frame. Aside from Archimedes, Thales of Ionia, and a few other scientists there were practically no scholars discovering knowledge of astronomy, cytology or most importantly phylogeny. The latter is the study of evolution and the Darwinian tree. Without science Jesus was like my cocker spaniel trying to understand the natural world with his nose.
We should despise, however, his Christian followers that came after Calvary. Many of the so-called saints born centuries later were among the most evil and sick people that ever lived. Men like St. Dominic, the founder of the Spanish Inquisition, a sadist and misogynist. St. Augustine of Hippo, also founder of a Christian “order” taught his followers to just accept whatever nonsense you’re taught by your superiors without question and don’t even think about it. Carl Sagan says more than any person in history he brought about The Dark Ages. He annihilated human curiosity. And to think the former even has a country and an island (Dominica) named after him. The beloved St. Thomas Aquinas believed women were put here on Earth solely for procreation and to tempt men to commit sin.
What a crazy world we’re living in because of Christ and that other delusional fanatic, Mohamed. We’re in the middle of the Anthropocentric Extinction, and even humans are on the brink of extinction. Our beautiful planet is violated in almost every area – even the exquisite coral reefs of Australia.
Jesus' Resume...WHAT DID HE DO?
What did Jesus ever do, that we can see, to improve the lives of mankind?
As a Prophet, what prophecies did Jesus ever make that have been fulfilled?
Jesus was a charismatic orator....he said some great sayings.....but what did he ever do?
IMO, all we have from Jesus are unfulfilled promises. We have nothing concrete that we can see. Did Jesus die for your sins? How can you tell if he did or not? How can you tell if you still have sins or not?
Jesus' Resume...WHAT DID HE DO? IMO ...NOTHING MEANINGFUL.
It's not what Jesus did or didn't do, christianity gave the world a moral code.
@gater I always hear Christians speak about morality and hold the Bible up as the standard for morality. But is the Bible the standard of morality in our modern culture here in the USA? I say NO...the Bible is not our standard of morality.
The God of the Bible endorsed slavery....we do not practice slavery.
The God of the Bible endorsed genocide...we do not.
The God of the Bible treats women as second class citizens....we do not.
The God of the Bible endorses a Monarchy....we are a Democracy.
The God of the Bible endorses death for Homosexuals and Heretics....we do not.
The God of the Bible is prejudiced against the handicapped....we make every effort to accommodate the needs of the handicapped.
I suppose if I thought a little more I would think of more immoral practices of the God of the Bible
If there wasn't a Jesus or a Muhammad, there would've been a Robert or Ahmad or Giuseppe to keep the masses in 'their place'.
Who was Christ? Isn't this just a title?
It is hard for me to hate a forever mythical personage just because someone declared that he was god. There are many different gods. I have studied the bible and read it through. The problem is that the older I got the more I discovered that I do not believe in any of these gods.
His real name was BOB.
Since age 13, I have been an atheist. I realized the Bible is just a book of stories or fables like Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Beginning at age five when I had to go to Sunday school, I scoffed at ridiculous Bible stories: Jesus rose from the dead, a woman turned into stone, parting of the Red Sea, Noah's Ark, etc. Inwardly rolled my eyes.
Michigan had a hard winter when I was 13. Bored and restless, my brother Lee, 10, and I read the World Book Encyclopedias together.
I was inspired by rational philosophers Spinoza and Descartes. They were bravely anti-theist (anti-gods), anti-church and anti-clergy in the 1600s when heretics were burned at the stake. They had to go into hiding.
The writings of rational philosophers Spinoza and Descartes inspired the European Enlightenment. The Enlightenment Period of the 17th and 18th centuries emphasized science and reason over faith and superstition.

Descarte very much so believed in God, his argument in Meditations in First Philosophy is ultimately an argument for God's existence.
Incorrect. Where did you read that nonsense?
@LiterateHiker In Meditations on First Philosophy that he wrote LOL
To be fair I think the blame would be mostly on those who came after Jesus. Jesus was most likely just a Jew who followed the Jewish Law who believed God was coming back during his own lifetime to overthrow the evil forces controlling the earth and to set up a physical kingdom on the earth. After his followers believed he was resurrected myths and fabrications and things he never even taught or would have dreamed of teaching became attributed to him.
Alright then. I'm going to write a book on a person who died three hundred years ago. I don't have the "internet" or library. There are no books to read and most were not permitted to read or didn't know how. Only the rich were permitted to own books.
So, where do I get information on this person who died three hundred years ago?
Jesus of Nazareth was a historical person, mentioned by chroniclers of the times.
There is no historical record of anything the guy did, taught, or said. Just that he existed, in context of some vague disturbances in that area of the empire.
Please let us know the sources you have that identify the Jesus of Nazareth referred to in the Gospels as historic.
@Geoffrey51 Anxiously waiting.
Yesu [ Jesus] was a popular name among the Hebrews in honour of their hero Joshua. So there would have been several Jesus. The gospelian Jesus is fully a fiction.
@Geoffrey51 I'm not going to spend any time on this but I just checked wiki and you could search these historians: Thallos, Josephus, Tacitus
@Andrew1954 PRAISE BOB! He is our lord and saviour. Son of God,,,,,,?? Bob in heaven, son in,,,,,,,,,,I'm confused.
@seattlepanda They are not reliable sources for this context as any biblical scholar will tell you.
@Geoffrey51 ...whatever...I just throw it out there...I am basically indifferent to the whole discussion...
@seattlepanda You don't know BOB?
"The beloved St. Thomas Aquinas believed women were put here on Earth solely for procreation and to tempt men to commit sin." Actually, from just my experience and a purely pragmatic view, everything women do makes sense if viewed from the perspective that they are harpies sent by the gods to punish men. While I find that statement amusing, most women do not for some reason that I do not understand.
Hate Jesus? A mythical creation? That would be like so stupid.
Jacar, catch my next post. I'll give some strong reasons why we should hate everything Cristianity stands for.
@Aristippus That is different than hating a dude that did not exist.
You're not the first to comment on that. I know Jeses probebly didn't exist. I was referring to what Christiany did to hunmanity in many ways. I'll clear this up in future posts.
This is one of the strangest posts ever. You're all over the map and I have no idea what your point is. ... You haven't asked anything, only made statements about what "we" (all people?) should feel, think and believe. ... Sorry, you lose. I will choose for myself what I should and should not do.
Sorry, it's a misunderstanding. I'll try to clear it up in my nest post. All I was trying to say was the zeitgeist about Christ should be negative. Catch my next post with an explanation.
One point howerer: The purpose of the forum to my mind is not to ask queistions but rather to express our views.
"Hate" is a byproduct of fear. "Judging" is an act of self-defense.
You have several different points that I could comment on but I will just pick a few for brevity.
You said, "...saints born centuries later were among the most evil and sick people that ever lived. Men like St. Dominic, the founder of the Spanish Inquisition, a sadist ..."
In new testament biblical text of the book of Hebrews"the word of God is a double edge sword, ... judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Word of God refering to old testiment law of the nation of Israel from over 2000 years ago.
We can look back in history and see how those people used biblical text for their own evil desires. We can see how biblical text can be used to understand hygine and quarantine practices: Wash hands after touching a dead body and quarantine a person showing skin rash or infection to be required to stay out side the city until clear. These biblical principles were not used by those in the middle ages that had control over people and yet didn't teach them hygiene or sanitary practices.
Mass hysteria grows unchecked!!!
Seems most of you on this site are still caught up in this mystical BS!!!
Any one can write any thing, the trick is too get moronic idiotic individuals to believe it as fact!!!
mien Kampf is the best example in the last century, just like the Mao’s red book!!!
Most people here don't know the truth, but you do. That makes us lucky to have you then! Thanks!
My belief is that what happened before and during the life of christ was an absolute mess. We don't even know how many 'Jesus' characters were around at the time. I have heard that it was 3. Each one could have been turned delusional by previously hearing and trying to fulfill the predictions that were sent ahead of him. Almost certainly there was a"Ringmaster" at this circus -possibly Paul and without sure and recorded conversations between them how can we be sure of anything in the gospels. We do not know whether the happenings were cultural, religious or political. All Saints and commentators watching what had happened and having ' caught ' the delusion and wanting power and preferential treatment were ordinary men who did mostly not even think of fully involving women. However all were human. This species throughout history has been shown to consist of good, bad and downright evil . It was however the by-standers who let the evil unfold.
It was Jesus who decided when his invisible father had given up on him. He could have stayed alive by confessing and repenting on his delusions in front of the Romans. Instead he saw the chance to be the big Martyr, setting a precedent for all other martyrs to join the virgins and meet dad. This alone is the reason to shun Jesus if not hate him. Hate does more to motivate humans away from goodness than is realized because it is silent as well as expressed out loud. Yes Christianity was a Movement , but movement in an unknown direction.
