From where my laptop is I can see my driveway. I just watched my daughter drive away, and 20 or so minutes later a white sedan is pulling up in my driveway. A car like that doesn't belong to any of my kids. I'm expecting them to back out and change directions, that happens pretty often. Nope, the car stopped. The driver got out, wearing a reflective vest and an Amazon logo. Since when does Amazon contract out deliveries? One of my orders can now be crossed off my list.
It’s a thing. Has been for a while.
Apparently I'm usually out when they deliver.
amazon has been using contract drivers for quite a while here in Dallas, They were very quick to let people know that a few years back when we were having all kinds of delivery problems here.
Sadly, their business practices are always suspect, aren't they?
@glennlab Wow. I was doing that, too, and still have a few things listed through them, mostly more rare items that I can charge a bit more for, and I couldn't figure out how so many people were selling books so inexpensively. Now I know. There couldn't have been much made on the shipping. They're scary.
@Lauren They are the prostitutes of the retail profession, they screw you, you pay for it, and you feel a little dirty afterwards. I felt really dumb for not reading the full agreement before bothering to list with them. They intentionally make it very difficult to figure out exactly what you are going to be charged for their services.
@glennlab I don't think you should feel dumb about it when you're up against teams of lawyers whose job is to make things as obscure as possible. I knew they had an advanced algorithm so they would benefit as much as possible, but my mistake for not knowing they intended to completely rape their supply chain.
Possibly to handle the sudden surge in demand now that shops are shut.
I am ordering more from Amazon since I am restricted from shopping at stores. I imagine others are in the same boat.
@HippieChick58 There's also Ali Baba. I buy quite a bit from them.
Do they operate in the USA?
@Petter I have heard of them (not sure why) but I haven't seen them around.
@HippieChick58 It's bigger than Amazon in World terms. However, it's based in China.
Take a look at the link.
@Petter They may have more stuff than Amazon! Pretty interesting.
I loathe Bezos..the world's richest man and he begrudgingly doles out pay raises like Midas. I'd never willing work for him or his mini overlords..
I'm not too fond of Bezos, but with restrictions on time and location, Amazon provides what I need. Yes, I am conflicted, but for the moment I'm shopping with them.
@HippieChick58 I understand the need sis..it's like shopping at Walmart..it sucks living on SS... it comes down to price and availability..and in this case deliverablity..
