Vote early if you can, just be sure to vote!
I was going to vote by mail. I just couldn't trust it, even here in Florida. Walking up to the polling place I got ambushed by a woman pushing the Republican agenda. When I said no thanks she asked me if I wanted a trump sticker. I told her I used to be a Republican but not anymore. She started following me saying something but must have hit the end of her rope because she turned around. Thank goodness... she would have gotten an earful otherwise.

Here there cannot be any "politics", including T-Shirt words, within 75 feet of the voting place. It is literally a chalk line on the sidewalk leading to the doors. Violators are subject to arrest, and there are "watchers". So your observation that she "vanished" is correct!

Filled out ballot and deposited in election headquarters

Better than mailing it in!

I put our mail-in ballots into the ballot drop box in front of the county building.

I had a mail in ballot and was going to do that. When I got to the polls it was nearly empty. So I took 10 minutes to vote in person and have the satisfaction of seeing the machine tell me my vote was counted.

Many of the polling place workers are paid by the campaigns they are representing and are given scripts, similar to telemarketers. All polling places have a set back line after which they can no longer electioneer. Most states that is 100 feet from the entrance (definitions as to entrance vary by jurisdiction. We used to print out push cards to be handed out at the election places. There are indeed some people that don't make up their minds or know about all the people and items on their ballot until they show up to vote.

I’ve seen drivers extending the finger at arms length out their car windows to flip off political adds along the street.
Sadly I’ve seen it from both sides, but I get it.

We always have people around the polling places but I think they have to stay a certain number of feet away from the door. I find it a curious custom because if someone is bothering to vote, would they not already know who they were voting for? I'm glad she backed off and you didn't have to give her an earful. 🙂

Yes, I think it's 100 ft from the door. She probably knew exactly how far her leash would allow her to go.
