Hello. Have you found Einstein?

6

Nice way to meet someone with whom to share a beer.

6

I’m for it...better than having to pretend to be drunk to ward off bands of roving JWs.

6

It would be a refreshing surprise and I am inclined to think that many people would be willing to chat on the doorstep for a few minutes or longer if nothing scheduled or planned for the day.

5

They would get tea and a bun.

5

...now that would be a change and I would welcome a chat.

5

That’s what I talk about, in any case, when they knock.

I'd fear for my life; there are too many gun toting anti-science freaks.

Comeon down! I will make coffee!

It would be great!

I'd rather talk about science than religion any day!

Too boring. Requires me to think. Now the Housewives of Schitts Creek. That I understand

I love Schitt's Creek. I am fine if people come by to talk about that too. Still need to catch season 6.

Good luck with that, 70 million voted for Trump, maybe if we get them together and harvest 1 brain worth of grey matter from these people, and transplant that to one science denier, we might get lucky.

This right here may have been one of the reasons I was considered the neighborhood weirdo when I was a kid. Granted, it was through the lense of a child (I still did it in high school, but under 18), but most neighbors were a bit weirded out by it. On the flip side, it made xmas season fun. A friend and I would go caroling at the houses with elderly, candy givers, and kids (which all overlapped, funny that). So around this time of year, they never knew if they would get a lecture or something that approximated singing.

2

If you did not believe they could simply say "just look at the trees." Soon you might be believing in science.

2

C'mon in !!

2

I think they would quickly become annoying and relegated to the Jo-ho fringe of society....

2

The next time that happens at your house, if it should happen, take the opportunity to change the subject from religion to science, or any subject you would rather pursue, after all it is your house.

Would be a relief

I would give them a listen.

However, if they mention the big bang fraud I will sic my wild dogs on them.

1

They would get the same result as missionaries. They can bang on the door all day long. If you aren't expected, I don't answer.

I LOVE it! Lets do that. 😀

People who knock on your door have something to sell. The religious are no different. They have a message to sell for approximately 10% of your earnings that is supposed to change your whole life.

1

That is probably about it.........imagining. Probably would never happen in real life.

I am not surprised that most people below would welcome a chat about science. One however ,should not use your misconception of science. The science examples you have chosen are not science, they are the RESULTS of science. Science is actually a series of searching process usually circular in progression i.e you need to keep them circulating and tweaking each time until you get a positive result. That is what I would do on the doorstep with the hope that they could eventually do it themselves with a problem they generate and choose. I would not preach science - and it can be made to be very engaging when it is with real people, emotions and material things or real people not ' spirits '. Would you like to continue this science chat ? Google "street epistemology" to see how people can achieve it without having to knock on doors.
