"I'm going to be rich, God and Jesus love me and they have made rich," is what I was greeted with about 30 minutes ago as I was putting out my Rubbish Bin for emptying today.
Yep, you guessed it, it was Evangeloon.
Bouncing around like a child in a Toy Shop, he tells me that yesterday while digging a Post-hole he found GOLD and not only Gold but tiny diamonds as well.
He shows me his miraculous finds and I couldn't help myself, I laughed and laughed, he had found Iron Pyrites ( Fools Gold) and small patches of Mica mixed in to the local rock layers.
Who ever named Iron Pyrites Fools Gold must have a premonition that sometime in the future a complete fool would be born.
Oh, I love to live next door to him. I am so jealous.
Tell him to look up Martin Frobisher, English explorer who sent a ship of fool's gold back to England. He did get credit for naming some islands in Canada.
Try to stay away from those people, the stupid can be contagious.
Been trying for years to invent a spray similar to Areo-guard that can be used to keep that kind away like Aero-guard does with flies, etc.
Yet I still plan a trip to a nearby state to go stroll through Crater of Diamonds state park just for fun.
Holler at me & I will meet you there! Hub has promised for 23 years to take me.
They do find, on rare occasions, diamonds in the local Mines BUT they are very rare and mostly Industrial Grade ones.
Geologists think that Broken Hill was once, many millions of years ago, an Underwater volcano but erosion from the shallow sea, etc, has worn away about 90+% of the origin volcano leaving only the Volcanic Plugs remaining intact, these are known as the 3 Pinnacles that are still very visible about 5-6 miles S.W. of town.
Though we do get high grade Garnets around here and the 3 original Mines used to produce approx. 10-15 kilos of gold between them from the late 50's to the early 90's on an average of every 4-6 months, , but seemingly, no longer these days.
Been there, It is not anything like you would expect, plus raw diamonds don't look anything like what you would expect. It is a good one day trip. But even though they find diamonds on a regular basis, it is well worked ground.
He's gotta be right up there for the Darwin awards.
A Dead-set Winner by at least 20+ lengths imo.
