Who makes the best French fries?
Many years ago I worked for J.R. Simplot in Caldwell Idaho. We made fries for McDonalds I lived on them and gained about 50 pounds. They are the best.
Simplot did make terrific potatoes............
My brother works in a processing plant that makes fries for various companies, McDonalds and Red Robin included. Both of these use only the best quality potatoes for their product. McDonalds actually have quality assurance inspectors on site while their fries are being processed. I don't like their fries myself, but if you do, you are getting good quality potato...
My late mother made the best, no place else could have beaten hers, she was a short-order cook made them from fresh taters spiced with garlic, pepper and oregano. I tried making them but not the same, didn't have my mom's love in them.
There's also In-n-Out's fries, but I believe that is a west coast only franchise. They make their fries fresh, straight from the potato right in the restaurant.
The worst are Burger King's fries. Sometime in the 90's they changed their recipe. I've actually got sick once from them.
Crystal makes a very good fry................
In-N-Out is slowly moving east and north. They are now in (at least) Oregon, Utah, Nevada and even Texas! I keep watching the news for when they open their first Houston spot -- that'll be an immediate scheduling of a bike ride!
@BlueWave I just had some last night. Ordered my fries well done, mmmmm!
@LucifersPen You suck!! ????????
@BlueWave Do you know about their secret menu?
@LucifersPen Yes, but I'm old school every single time. Double double with everything, fries and lemonade.
McD's but not nearly as good as they used to be. [revisionisthistory.com]
My grandma said she used to go to McDonald's with her friends just to order their fries.
@Sheitelhau Oh for sure. Prior to about 1991 they were fried in a blend of oils that included beef tallow. So damn good. I highly recommend listening to that podcast I linked btw. It's great.
I looove fries. I could eat them every meal, every day for-EV-er.
It sure ain't McD's!!! Skinny little fries get cold instantly!! Matter of fact, nothing much about McD's is very exciting. Room temp meat, cold buns. Far too much magic sauce so that whatever is inside the bun squishes out. Want a great burger, make it yourself!
It's been 22 years since I ate crap from one of those places...
you really should try sweet potato fries and make them at home...they are spectacular
I never really paid attention to it, but I hear from everyone that McDonald's has the best fries. The only fries I ever remember having a lasting effect on me were the Aussie Cheese Fries from Outback Steakhouse.
The French.....
Oopos - should have scrolled down further!
We only have Burger King and McD's from that list in the UK, so I would have to saty KFC
i don't care much for mcdonalds fries, they taste flavorless to me. never been to checkers/rallys or chik-fil-a, so i can't say if i like them. honestly tho, my favorite fries where from a small mom and pop joint that i can't even remember what it was called anymore. they made hand cut fries and the nice old lady who made them would coat them in flour and seasonings and deep fry them and they were epic!
