Yes, I wonder if some of the politicians see war as good for the economy, creating jobs, and if lots of casualties, reducing the number of unemployed. War rallies citizens of each side together, but we need the whole world to rally together to combat a larger threat, be it climate change or other world-wide disaster or attack. Almost can see it with the pandemic, folks from all countries combating a mutual enemy, the virus.

@Julie808 In some ways the Cold War was one of the best tricks, in the Soviet block communism failed the people, and in the Western block, especially the US, capitalism failed nearly as badly to really raise the greater number of people. So blame the other side, but create a phoney none shooting war, except by proxy in a few third world states, and you can go on avoiding the need to address your countries problems with the long term hard work, careful thinking, education, care, corruption cleansing and honesty, they really need, forever. Suits both sides.

You & I would pay less taxes if AMAZON & Jeff would pay SOMETHING!. As to government handouts, our mentally ill homeless veterans could use some hand outs of follow up nurses for treatment which President Raygun cut so that corporations got the tax breaks that you & I did not get. Capitalism must be checked by socialism & socialism must be checked by capitalism. I am an ardent capitalist but outr helpless need government attention. Unless one would prefer eugenics & snuff out their lives as is the Anglo/Germanic history.
