Anyone use the nextdoor app or website? I'm part of it in my community and I often see posts relating to Jesus Christ and their belief in it. I find myself having to report these posts and a neighborhood site has nothing to do with religion. Have to tell these folks to keep their personal beliefs personal.
I use the nextdoor app and luckily someone started an atheist group, we talked on the phone and are planning a meet up!
I use it to report lost dogs that have wandered in my yard in my neighborhood. I reunited about 5 dogs with owners on it.
Yes, I use the nextdoor app in my community here. It is good for some things but I do notice a lot of people posting about god or thanking god or everything "good" (the like it or approve of it) is from god and everything bad (they don't like it) is the fault of democrats. It is a good source for some community news, information, or selling something but it is full of this kind of crap. I mostly avoid or ignore such stuff.
Spot on! All good things are thanks to god, and all bad things are due to democrat aka socialists aka communists.
Do not make it what it is not!!!
A bunch of individuals you have too deal with, take them or leave them!!!
Most times not too bright, often just plain nice, others who should never post Ever!!!
Welcome to social media local neighbor style!!!
I used nextdoor. Got into a lot of arguments with some insanely stupid people, some of whom claimed they could report the license plate of people who sped down their street and the sheriff would go to their home and write them a warning that would be entered into their file. I told them they were wrong and contacted the sheriff's department and proved it by posting the reply. I don't know what the final straw was, but I wouldn't let people get away with posting nonsense and people probably didn't like that. Ultimately got suspended and never looked back. If I can't speak the truth, I have no business using your platform.
It's pretty benign where I am. Lots of pictures of local wildlife, people looking to pick up odd jobs or housecleaning gigs, things for sale, discussion of local loud noises, helicopters, traffic jams, and the occasional heartwarming story of someone who was in trouble but a neighbor helped them out. Good way to keep up with new restaurants. Very rarely do I see any overtly religious proselytizing, though it does happen. I guess it varies by where you live. I just looked - today the top 3 were 46 new things for sale, a story about 2 dogs that got hit by a car in Garner, and a question about a reported bomb threat in Apex. YMMV I guess.
I would categorize the neighbors as Virtue Signaling. Maybe that concept will help shape your thoughts on their actions.
It's funny because many of the posts/comments are either religious in nature (praying for X to happen) or violent (advice to shoot porch pirates or any other person who happen to be in or near their property, whether the intent is malicious or not.) I feel like I'm surrounded by gun toting, blood thirsty, self centered morons who claim to have deep, personal relationships with Jesus. Every now and then, someone will post something intelligent and sane, but I doubt that their words are swaying anyone.
I used to use that when we lived in Colorado, but it quickly turned into just an annoyance. I think it depends on the people managing your area. But it is a good idea in concept. In my case it turned into a mini Craigslist.
I use it sparingly. Mostly I get notices about wandering dogs or automobile break-ins.
Smuggling religion into their discourse is what Christians do. It's the first step in establishing friend from foe for their cult. Politics is also forbidden on ND, but a lot of posts slip through, again with Putin-Americans seeking to create drama in their cult of Karenism.
I had one in my neighborhood in Texas. I rarely looked at it unless there was an alert for a lost pet. That’s about all they are good for.
Someone came and jumped my car within about ten minutes.
I see lost pets found because there is a network of eyes.
I use that site, and get plenty ticked off about the same thing, as well as anti-vaxxers spreading lies, trolls. Trumpers, etc. They're everywhere! Welcome to the zombie apocalypse.
Careful with your anti-vaxxer comments. I have just completed 2 weeks of Covid. I am an anti-vaxer. At the first symptoms, I treated myself with Ivermectin - indeed the horse type as it was the only sort I could get. The stuff is magic (no surprises since it was found to be the best cure for SARS) and worked like a dream I also went onto a regimen of "herbal" supplements - 8 of them twice daily. I still am on them as I have some lingering symptoms. The horse gel I only took three days. It is incredibly important to take it as early as possible. Hydroxychloroquine similarly has to be taken very early. Trump was treated with one of those as it explains how quickly he recovered. Taking them too late (ie by the time you are in hospital) is pointless. Your body then is full of virus.
I now have an advantage over you with your vaccines. I am now immune to Covid, As long as you take your vaccines, you are not. When you stop, there are detoxing medications but the damage done to your immune system might take many years to heal.
Don't worry, within a few years this is all going to come out into the open. There is the start of a Nuremburg trial happening Europe. Keep worshipping Pfizer, but he might prove to be a false god.
I stand by my pro-vax feelings. My older son died of COVID. It didn't have to happen. The vaccine wasn't invented at that time. Many more family tragedies are playing out because of unsubstantiated misinformation like this. Healthcare workers are overburdened and exhausted. I will continue to speak out loudly for my son Josh's sake. Go ahead and show me some good randomized double-blind studies which support what you're saying. I don't want to hear any more BS. I'm so tired and I miss people who respect science and knowledge. I will never stop speaking out. I will not be quiet.
