Why is this in any way an indictment of the 'liberal news aemedia? Everybody knows the N.Y. Post leans right, but the opinions about which "mea culpas" were issued were tame enough. Yes, the nearly $2 trillion on Covid did have an impact, but so did the war in Ukraine and the supply bottlenecks which came directly or indirectly as a result of the pandemic, and other ramifications of a shut-down economy. Would Trump have handled it any better? I don't see how. Since I'm a Dem, I WOULD say he'd have handled it worse.
About Trump voters, of course they had issues with the elite. I have problems with the elite. YOU probably do too. But Trump is, among many other odious things, an ELITIST. If anything, it shows how superficial his appeal is. Evangelicals supported him? Really? Given his past actions? Working class people voted for him, given how he treated his employees? Etc., Etc.
So the opinion writer underestimated his support because who could have possibly predicted, given his record on all fronts, support from ANY voting bloc? Apparently he has an undefinable "charisma," an "it" factor, not detectable by those unsmitten. It boggles my mind ANYONE would vote for such a reprehensible toad, but that's just me.

Democrats, in any case, can freely admit when they're. Name me a rightie who admitted he was wrong about anything. Is this because he's never wrong? No, just someone who adhers not to facts but to ideology. Typical.
