Here's a glimpse on the other side of the liberal coin:
A free market ideology that seeks to free individuals from all kinds of constraints in order to maximize their ability to work and to consume.
The atomized workers with no commitment to any place or person are the workers best able to respond quickly to the demands of the market. These ideal liberal subjects can move to wherever the jobs are because they have no connection to anywhere in particular; they can do whatever labor is asked of them without any moral objection derived from faith or tradition. And, without a spouse or family to attend to, they never need to demand rest days or a flexible schedule.
Then, with the money earned from this rootless and pointless labor, they are able to buy consumables that will soothe any feelings of unhappiness, thereby feeding the economic engine with maximum efficiency.
I this is going to be done on minimum wage? Can't wait.
Why are you assuming that these workers would have no moral objections to the work they did?
Why are you assuming these workers would not want/deserve rest days or a flexible schedule?
Why are you assuming the work being done is pointless?
This wild and implausible idea you've concocted seems not well thought out. And what does any of this have to do with being liberal?
There are many reasons why people must work. Many people stick to the jobs they hate for years, for their dearest children for example. It's not pointless.
For me, work-life balance is important.
@Ryo1 Of course people must work and I think most people don't like their jobs. I don't like my job but it isn't stressful and I can do it from home so that's worth putting up with the monotony. Work isn't pointless if its productive toward something useful or beneficial.
In the old days, a man who traveled and worked was called a hobo. And a man who traveled but didn't work was a tramp. A man who doesn't travel and doesn't work is still called a bum.
There are plenty of itinerant workers in the world. Just because they work in different places does not mean they are rootless. Many have a home base they come back to, a house in which they are building equity or own outright, a spouse, a family...
