Do you find that people don't get your humor? I see it especially online and think it's not transferred through text.
But I sometimes read a post and laugh at the humor then read the comments and see how literal some people take it.
I am always amazed at this.
Most don't get my humour but I don't mind. I think I'm frikkin' hilarious!
Ditto... I am happy as long as I can entertain myself. I get all my jokes!
I run into it alot. I have been blocked becuase of it, and that is OK. I find the overly sincere tedious. What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?.....Homeless! ?
@Akfishlady Thanks. ?
It's simple. The written word doesn't carry body language along with it, and it is void of tonal and inflection differences. Because of this, it is understandable that there are frequent misunderstandings of text. However, sense of humor plays a huge role as well. People with well developed senses of humor will rarely miss the humor and will occasionally insert their own into an otherwise innocent comment. I find myself laughing out loud at many of the posts and comments. If an individual doesn't, I suggest checking your sense of humor meter.
Yup, all the time. Its ok, everyone is wired differently. Some get it, some hate it, some take it personally and at times towards the wrong way...
. Regardless, we are what/who we are and the audience always have a choice to react any way they please. Life is just too short to keep sense of humor restrained all the freaking time, right??
People are uber sensitive these days it seems. Everything offends them.
Bingo.
Mostly family gets my humor. We readily relate to the same obscure movie lines and sarcastic blurbs. People further out don't get half of the references. Some think it makes us look clique-ish. I'm just glad that SOMEBODY gets it because it was damned funny!
I am familiar with that kind of wacky awesomeness! We are fortunate, indeed!
It's like any humor. Some people get it and some don't. I've also found that the less people are online, the less they are aware of the formats and memes that help to convey the humor. And some people are just stupid.
Lol... I wondered if instead of "And some people", you nearly typed "And the rest".
(;
Sometimes my humor can be a little too intellectual for some. No biggie, but i have to ask who I am telling something to first. Most folks don't like jokes that make them think to much I have found.
Absolutely. I think a lot of that stems from "political correctness" and people often not being sure if it's OK to laugh, or find humorous, that which others may find somehow offensive.
When did good manners suddenly become "political correctness"?
Add a dry sarcasm and tongue in cheek emoji. I spend too much time explaining.
For me, it's best when they take my humor literally. Reinvigorates the humor. Though, I have an Alexa now, and I am afraid to turn it on cuz I may just laugh myself to death.
There's no accounting for differing perspectives.
'know your audience' applies.
Sometimes, they’s jus bishes.
Yes. I'm always treated like some vile evil person if I make a joke, and if I don't I'm 'a stuck up cunt'.
Example in a community forum where I live we were discussing some abandoned dilapidated buildings and how ugly they are and the out-of-state property owners won't demolish them because they are a tax write off as long as some semblance of a building stands.
I said "oh if only they could just....disappear lol" and suddenly I'm being screamed at that I support arson and encourage it.
@LetzGetReal it's just a word. And no I didn't use it in the community forum.
@LetzGetReal I'm not gonna apologize for saying it
@SACatWalker it's like voldemort. Fearing the name and what not.
@SACatWalker tits is one of my favorite word lol
Yes. People who know me understand my humour. Others need to catch up or miss out. Life is too short. ?
Nothing surprises me anymore. People can be defensive and sensitive.
