This is a bit of a bragging post. The past two months I have been directing a play with mostly youngsters in, the cast, mostly 13-14, but one is 11 and one is 16, along with someone 21 and someone 71. Having directed adults and high schoolers, I had some trepidations. No more. They opened last night and gave a magnificent performance. They worked hard throughout rehearsals, learned lines quickly, took direction well. It energized me! I am very proud of them.

I've done a lot of theater - acting - it's great to see a show take on its life with an enthusiastic cast.
Good on you.
Hopefully you've sparked ability and imagination of them.
?

I love working with the kids, making them feel good about what they do, and instilling the confidence to take chances.

A long time ago, I was in a couple of productions in high school. It is very satisfying when it all comes together, but the director has the toughest job, imho. Good on you and your cast and crew. .?

Thank you. It is hard work.

I have been a drama director at two summer camps in Maine and done community theatre years ago. Got to do Wizard of Oz if u can. What show did you do?

I directed Wizard of Oz in 1994. It was a great show. Dorothy is now a high school theater director.

We did Little Women. There were many scripts based on the book. The one I chose had more comedy than tragedy.

Congrats! My ex and I ran a Youth Theatre company many years ago. People don't give kids in general, and teens specifically, any credit for much of anything. My favorite thing was listening to the people leaving after a show and hearing them say they forgot they were watching kids.

Yes, I know what you mean. I've heard that; in fact, at tonight's show I heard such comments.

My daughter has been performing in musical theater for over 5 years. I am amazed by the dedication and hard work of the kids.

Good for your daughter. This is such an important outlet for many of them.

GOOD FOR YOU! Wonderful to see people break through fear/nerves and shine, isn't it? Of course...it just MIGHT have something to do with their Director! Just saying....

I have enough ego to take some credit. I know that it's a collaborative effort.
