Illinois ranks as ‘most normal’ state in the U.S., according to new study
Well looking at the WaPo article this was abstracted from, Florida is pretty normal too:
[washingtonpost.com]
When you whip together these 30-ish variables, condensed into six similarity indexes, you find the single-most “normal” U.S. state is … Florida? The nation’s second-largest peninsula and single-largest late-night punching bag scores well on religion, education, income and even race.
That’s scary! Florida Man is everyman? As Dave Barry points out in Best. State. Ever. many so-called Floridians have come from other states and we’re not getting their best. It’s kinda like the dumbest rodents getting stuck in a blind alley jutting off from the rest of the country.
From the WaPo article we ain’t quite normal in terms of work and social issues.
Oddly my county, Brevard, is on the higher end of normalcy. That worries me!
A no-doubt scientific study run by a neutral person....the story following it on the source cited above talks about how their homeless problem is 8 times worse.
Alrighty then!
Interesting, that it is a Midwestern state, but also a major port of entry. I am not sure what good it is to be "normal", but I am sure their PR teams will spin it for advertising.
