Does anyone else talk aloud to themselves? I do and when my wife asks who I'm talking to I tell her I'm having the most intelligent conversation I've had all day
I got into the practice after I got a divorce and I was left with the company of my dog. I talked out loud to him a lot, and when he, sadly, left this world, I continued to talk with no audience in attendance. I think it's therapeutic. Gets the two brain hemispheres connecting with each other.
We used to have a roofer that came in after we were done framing, name Pete, who worked alone. The contractor said, When Pete starts talking to himself loudly, you better watch out, because he was flashing back to 'Nam. The only thing was, Pete had never been in the service at all, much less in Vietnam.
Oh wow! That's crazy, no pun intended! Was he at least good at what he did?
This is not 'Nam, it's bowling:
@AccursedHalo at the time it wasn't really any of my business about his work. But if he hadn't been a good roofer he wouldn't have been around as long as he was.
I talk to the cats, which is about the same thing. I had a horrible cold a few weeks ago, I had to talk out loud so I could figure out if I had a voice and if I should go to work. I spend a lot of time on the phone, if I can't talk there is no sense in going to work.
I do while driving! I'm complaining or cussing someone out for doing something stupid that makes me have to break or etc
Copy that. I curse a lot while I am driving. Probably because so many people drive so badly
Everyone does it. No one admits it.
What I tend to do is work out how conversations will go, and how the other person will react. I play both roles. I have yet to have a real conversation go the same way as a rehearsed one.
"You're much easier to talk to when you aren't here."
Funny delusional human, I can bet you also think everybody masturbates.
Yes...I do it all the time. I am especially vocal when I am in the car by myself and I have issues to resolve. It is very cathartic.
This is the best way to think things through, in my opinion. I even call my name out and say, "you need to figure this out, girl!"
@CatiValti23 Yes Yes Yes. me too. lol
@sloryd I'm not very gentle with myself at all.......anything that comes to mind comes out.
Come on Ella. It's late, you've got to go to bed now.
But agnostic.com is so addictive... Just ten more minutes? No... It's bed time.
You my friend are a ‘one man show!’ What profound answers have you gotten lately?
I talk to things.
'hey you, c'mere ' when I reach for something.
'fine! Fuckin be that way' if I drop something or it breaks.
'Cooperate !' to a stuck drawer.
I'm alright. They let me out afterall.
Before I retired I worked alone trouble shooting electrical problems on Commercial Air Conditioning, people would stop and think I was talking to them. I was just approaching the equipment on a quantum level to understand what is wrong by asking it. Well that's what I told them. hahahah
And she hasn't kicked you in the nuts yet?
That's what I thought too. I'm sure his wife appreciates that. :/
I talk to myself all the time. When I know that I'm alone, I even have arguments (which I ALWAYS win). It's good to know that I'm not the only one.
I talk aloud to a hand puppet.
He tells me things.....
Disturbing things......
"Another fine job." (When I do something stupid.)
"Oh, for Chrissake! Try again, Miller."
"Buck up, kiddo. You're okay."
I do, and I answer myself, and you know what that means!
No. The internal conversation is better and I won’t get locked up.
