In writing a private message this morning about a humorous experience I was reminded of something earlier intended but forgotten regarding a post here.

This is a very interesting place wherein one can find interesting people to possibly meet. My experiences include other places, physical ones, that offered similar, palpable opportunities. For people unencumbered by family, clingy, dependent 'others' or pets, there are many enriching opportunities available by working summer and/or winter resorts in some incredibly beautiful places.

The best kinds of jobs in these places are connected with some form of 'tip earning' opportunities. Others are good too. Employee (almost always shared) housing is always available at these resorts at very nominal cost; along with employee dining rooms with three meals a day. Most have great salad bars for those who want to turn a summer into regaining fitness and ideal weight.

This kind of employment is pursued by young, college age people from all over the world, primarily. Secondarily (my category) are elder people and couples in semi or full retirement who enjoy traveling and being around young people. American kids are in a minority, mainly because so many lack the ambition or courage to leave family and what is familiar to earn money many don't even need in the fiorst pace.

The youngsters keep you young too! They are always at some kind of off-duty mischief like whitewater rafting, hiking, building bonfires and socializing in the woods or even making silly party excuses at employee common areas like rec rooms or employee club/bars in some locations.

These kinds of experiences are to be cherished for a lifetime and it isn't all that difficult to find this kind of seasonal work.
The most important thing to resorts is that you honor your 'contract' (promise) term of employment without going home early. After a season of fulfilling a contract with one employer confirming it as a reference, it gets even easier.

Interested? The site I've used is: www.coolworks.com

They are like a 'clearing house' for seasonal employers all over the United states and you can search them and their pages by state and other ways, on the site itself.

Give it a try and let me know if anybody scores a job. The only summer jobs likely now are ones created by last minute no shows or attrition of unsuitable new arrivals. Best time for summer jobs is January/February. Good time soon for Winter Resort jobs though. Have fun.

Oh wow I never thought about that as a resource for others nor did I know there are so many perks. I traveled via motor-home and would volunteer to be camp ground host (bartered would be a better term). If that was not an option I would find a server position but did not know there is a market for that. I am so grateful you posted this, I have several groups of traveling environmentalists and SnowBirds that would benefit greatly from this information! Thank-you!
PS I bet the person you PM'd feels honored to converse with such a lovely and thoughtful human being. Your character shines through your words and it is appealing. Thanks again for the link!

I may become a cannabis trimmer when the harvest comes in.

As soon as I have enough money to buy myself another motor-home I will travel to where you are working and buy what you grow. Take you out for dinner or something but I have it on my bucket list to check out a farm so why not meet someone too?

@CreativelyMe Many resorts welcome people with 'rigs' because they don't have to provide them housing, only hook-ups. Pretty sure some good resorts are in your state too.

@Silver1wun Oh yes indeed. Mesa Verde. The park is hiring. Just not what & wish to do. Thanks for the link.
