I just finished reading this insightful book by David Frye ' Walls: A History of Civilization in Blood and Brick ' and I highly recommend it.

@Charlene Weak people build walls to feel safe, strong people don't need walls.
@Elganned The invading hordes are being promoted as Bad Hombres who are coming to take American's Stuff but mainly it is about keeping out people who might be taking American jobs because they are willing to work harder for less. The reason for walls hasn't really changed, it's about holding onto your stuff that others seek to take from you, either by force of arms or force of will.
