Some of the fantastic critters I've been lucky enough to encounter in Florida. Eastern lubber grasshopper, Florida banded watersnake, raccoon, ruddy daggerwing, green anole, some kind of crab, American bird grasshopper, Cuban treefrog, and brown anole.

Green Anoles I keep. Hope to have good success rate with breeding.
They remind me of home

Great Nature shots! I remember raising Ruddy Daggerwing Butterflies on Stranger Fig (Ficus aurea). Their caterpillars look like little dragons!

@Insectra
Ruddy Dagger Wings are one of the dear things I miss about home.
Another little beauty is the Snowcapped Spanworm Moth (Melanchroia) Some days in Winter I'd give a limb just to see one!!

The main reason I moved here ! By the way , that's an invasive Cuban tree frog. Wildlife folks ask people to put them in the freezer if you find one, because they're demolishing native tree frogs and lizards. I only found one around me, but I just couldn't do it ...

@Insectra Oh dear - and they're pretty hefty fellas too ! Many creatures can fit in that maw !

@evergreen
No good can come from Cane Toads. They kill not only native wildlife, but pets as well.
Cuban Tree Frogs are one thing, but you should feel not qualm one about killing these bastards!

@Leafhead I know you speak truth ...

I'm thinking raccoon?

@Islandgurl That would be correct.

Posted by InsectraA cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.
