This has been a terrible winter, long and dry. It's been a challenge to keep up the humidity in my reptile tanks. Even in Akasha's tank, and she's a dry climate snake, requiring only 30-50% humidity. She's had a couple of bad sheds needing assistance, and today I decided a warm soak for her. Hauled her ass upstairs to the bathtub (today she felt like 40 lbs not 20, and she's gotten to I would say almost 7 ft, though I couldn't measure her). She's not a huge fan of water, obviously, unlike my Brazilian rainbows. I'm glad I'm a female so I can say "I bathed my snake" without it sounding lewd.
That is one gorgeous serpent !
She is a Dumeril’s Boa. Also known as Dwarf Boa because they don’t get as long as most large boas though they have similar girth.
@evergreen Yes, they are larger than royals/ball pythons. I know a breeder who is developing the larger variety of the Dumerils. Theirs get to 9-10 ft, which then makes them not really Dwarf. Dumerils have a massive girth for their shorter lengths. The average length for Dumerils is about 5-6 ft but they are super chunky. Akasha is over 6 ft though for sure so she's above average. She's heavy enough to make it a bit tricky for me to carry her to the upstairs bathroom.
Lol bathed my snake. Sold all my boas last week, going to try making an outdoor area for uromastyx, i live in southern arizona
Yeah. Outdoor enclosures would never work for reptiles here definitely. Hardly suitable for any animal being outdoors.
@graceylou where you at?
@Smallieslayer Edmonton area, Alberta.
@graceylou lol well no uromastyx farm in the backyard then
@Smallieslayer Definitely not. The only outdoor pets I have are my horses and donkey.
@graceylou right on

Posted by InsectraA cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.
