This probably doesn't look that impressive to anybody outside of the UK, but trust me, around these parts this is a massive spider (Eratigena atrica I believe). Can of Monster for reference.

It was still there when I left the office to go home. I'm scared of them so I'm neither cruel nor kind- basically I won't touch them either way!
@Rufus_Maximus Big cup, or bowl, and cardboard or thick paper to cover it. Place over aforementioned spider, slide paper under, take outside. Gone ! No touching required.
(and in the multiple eyes of the spider - you'll be a hero !) "smile"
