How many here are tarantula/spider keepers? These are/were my tarantulas.

Champagne, Brazilian blonde, female
Cyan, greenbottle blue, male, now deceased
Shadow, brazilian black, male
Shiver, Costa Rican zebra, sling
Charlotte, Chilean rosehair, female

I love my tarantulas like they are my babies. I have Cyan’s image tattooed on my upper right chest.

I’ve kept T’s off & on for a long time. I currently have a p. Metallica, a red knee, a greenbottle blue, a sun tiger, and an a. Versicolor.

Always wanted the A. versicolor, but the last time I was looking the vendor only had tiny slings (may be 1/2 inch).

Cyan was a colourful beauty. how old do they get on average?

Males only live up to 5 years. Females can live up to 20.

@graceylou, how stressful must a spider-man's life be 😕

@walklightly Mature males are a rare commodity. Some people actually stud them out to breeders, and hope the males don’t get killed. Pet owners usually want females because they live much longer. When you get them as babies (slings) you don’t know what sex you’re getting usually. I will probably lose Shadow in a year or so. Charlotte I adopted at 1 1/2 years and she’s about 8 now.
