Ok I stopped to help a snake get across the road before it became a former snake.After I got out of my truck I thought I was too late because it had it had a white mass about the size of a grape bulging out of its cloaca/vent or whatever its netherworld is called.Other than that it had a pointy complete tail and moved symmetrically to some cracks in the rocks with a slight tap with a stick.Any idea @Insectra what could have been going on with this serpent?

that could be another thought. It looked really similar to that. I came upon it at dusk and am generally not inclined to lean into serpents to , say, determine the shapes of their pupils and such. If it makes a difference it did not look like a pit viper by head shape I am not up on which snakes give live birth and which lay eggs
@btroje, vipers & rattlesnakes are viviparous (no eggs) or ovoviviparous (eggs retained in body), & so are members of the boidae family, like boa constrictor & anaconda. [reptileknowledge.com]
