White House Promotion of Herd Immunity Appalls Top Scientists
With more than 20 states setting new records for coronavirus infections in recent days, the White House has been still busy pushing the completely unproven theory of "herd immunity” - which means allowing the virus to spread freely among healthy young people, while keeping most aspects of the economy up and running. To promote the theory, the White House has been relying on a small community of rogue scientists like Dr. Scott Atlas, and ignoring the warnings of the rest of the scientific community.
Oh yeah, I “herd" about that theory! In fact, I’m pretty sure the Herd Immunity Theory originally came out of the Dr. Josef Mengele branch of medicine. Well, sounds like it’s finally time to roundup all those folks in that deadbeat over-60 crowd - and send them off to “granny ghettos” - for their own “protection,” of course.
That said, for better or worse, I do fully understand the point Republican’s are trying to make here - which is basically “quit being so damn selfish and only thinking about the welfare of yourself and your family, and instead start asking “what's good for the markets?”

?? “Herd immunity” concept has been around for decades, not new, whether achieved through vaccines or natural, uncontrolled contagions. It is accepted science by epidemiologists. Whether the concept can be efficiently and compassionately applied with this virus, given the political clusterfuck surrounding it, is another question. The sad and cruel part is that our public health policy has become a political football at the whim of an egomaniacal narcissistic, who doesn’t care how many people die, or businesses fail, so long as he gets re-elected, on the crest of a tsunami of science deniers and liars.

I don't think it makes me paranoid to say that both Trump and Biden are hoping this will kill off enough older people that whoever wins won't have as much of a Social Security expense for the feds to pay out in the next decade, since their rich donors don't need SS and don't want the income cap lifted so they would have to pay more.
