A friend cited some interesting facts from former Social Security Administration worker and author Tom Margenau.
"Out of 190 countries listed in one of the author's reference books, 177 have social security. Niger, for instance, has had it since 1967. That's 32 years after the US got it, but Australia has had social security since 1904, and Germany since 1889. America was a latecomer."
