Yesterday I ran an 8k in Chattanooga The Chattanooga Heros Run
I sucked. There was a race at the beginning of Febuary I ran. Almost the same course. I was 3 minutes faster than yesterday.
No, you didn't suck. And if it felt harder than the previous race, you likely pushed harder against your fitness limits for a net benefit.
I find my best workouts are those I least want to do. You know, when you are heading to the box and you are tempted to detour to the pizza joint. I always feel great afterward, even if I'm whipped.
@Stevil Congratulations. And not to be a nag, but ditch the Pringles. You can't outrun a bad diet.
Do you normally run in the morning, etc? Was it the heat?
Years ago, in a spring semester at college I took 'Recreational Jogging' as a blowoff course. Loved it. We met at 8am. It was below freezing at first. I started running more than anyone in the class. At least 3 miles a morning, and sometimes 5 before my next class.
Part of the class was we had to enter a legit local race. The whole class signed up for a 5k.
Except me.
I signed up for a 10k that was like 3 weeks later. It took place at like 2pm on the first nice and humid day to break 90 in Southeast Missouri!
I thought I was going to die!!! Learned my lesson.
Oh, Cape Girardeau has a lot more hills than the college track too!!!
Yeah, it's not brutal plains cold like Minot North Dakota, but it usually pretty damp, so 30 in that area feels worse than 30 in a drier place.
I lived in Omaha for a while, and 40 degree spring days there would see kids in short sleeve shirts and pants. 40 in those areas along the Mississippi river seem colder.
Running.... ugh. That poor performance of yours was better than anything I’ve ever done in running shoes.

Posted by Aeonia25850I hate to say it, but this does happen. Especially around new years!
Posted by Aeonia25850Just for a laugh! Right now I'm pushing these legs of mine hard with the weights and on the bike and am seeing good results.

Posted by SilviaParkI had my first triathlon in Sunday, an indoor USATri60. Lots of room for improvement, but I'm just a beginner swimmer, and haven't taken my bike on the road yet :)
