Importance of rest days cannot be overstated. As a road cyclist, I make sure to have at least one rest day per week, sometimes two. On the other days I do endurance miles or interval training. On weekends, it's group rides with the locals.
What's your rest day schedule?
I love to run and cycle so my rest days vary on the day before's work out. If I run a high incline, it will be 5 miles and I rest the day after and if I run a flat or minimal incline, it'll be around 8-10 miles and I'll do strength training the following day with a few rounds on the bag and animalistic movements to loosen my joints.
I'm a lifter so: Monday is back day, Tuesday is chest, Thursday is legs and Friday is shoulders and arms. Do fat-burning, what most people call cardio or aerobic exercise, after each lifting day, Wednesdays and one day on the weekend combined with some ab work and joint rehab. Either Saturday or Sunday is when I don't workout at all.
@RoadGoddess Most challenging part is getting my old joints to work!

Posted by SilviaParkI had my first triathlon in Sunday, an indoor USATri60. Lots of room for improvement, but I'm just a beginner swimmer, and haven't taken my bike on the road yet :)
