My hero!
My normal running route was flooded again today. We have been running on the back roads near the house recently because of the weather. Couple of years ago, there was an old dude, even older than me believe it or not. He was sitting on a bench with his bike holding him up. As the dog and i passed him. I was concerned that he was stroking out or having a heart attack. I asked him if he needed help. He just held up one hand palm out as if to say "piss off and let me die" We passed him again on our way back to the car. he had moved but only one bench. This was his pace for the early days when he first started riding on the green way We've seen him almost every day since then. Saw him today, and because of the flooded trail and walkway it was crowded near one of the entrances. a woman pushing a baby stroller walked out in front of him. He leaned the bike over went up a little hill around her stood up and pedaled hard around a couple then down the hill and jumped the curb. he looked like a teenager. Later on during our run, he asked where we been. I explained. He rides the whole green way several times a day now. He is 76 years old. He is my inspiration, and if you hear someone saying their Too old to workout he is an example of what BS that is!
That's Awesome! I love hearing inspirational stories like that. Thanks for sharing!
Great story. You wear out from disuse, not overuse.

Posted by Aeonia25850Just for a laugh! Right now I'm pushing these legs of mine hard with the weights and on the bike and am seeing good results.

Posted by SilviaParkI had my first triathlon in Sunday, an indoor USATri60. Lots of room for improvement, but I'm just a beginner swimmer, and haven't taken my bike on the road yet :)
