Hello everyone, I am a 67 year old southerner here. I have been secular most of my life and, the time when I finally decided to actually admit to myself that I was, happened to be the most free I had ever felt in my life. I was born and grew up in the midst of the bible belt (South Carolina) I went to church because there wasn't anywhere else to go when you are young and without transportation and you are pressured by family and neighbors. But I looked around and most of them wasnt sitting in the pews listening to that crying assed snake oil salesman. I went to look at girls, and get the occasional cool aid and cookies during the "Vacation bible school" I got to watch grown people cry a lot, they sure are ugly when they screw up their faces in pretended agony. We got to visit other churches where people "spoke in tongues" and shouted and rolled around on the floor. That was amusing but I would much rather have been at home watching the hogs fuck, by the time I got home they were finished and laying in the mud again. Sometimes when we would get to visit other churches you got to eat out, you could see what everyone else ordered while they were "asking the blessing" they said jesus gave them the food but a mortal had to pay for it, why did they have to give him the credit? They said he loved everybody, but so did the wino that used to come to the door begging for food or cigarettes. They told me he could cure all ills (Jesus, not the wino) but it was funny no matter how much you prayed you still had to go get medicine at the drugstore to stop those ear aches, again someone else had to pay for that. Anyhow this is me, my name is Randall and, I may have sounded a bit like Forest Gump here but I was just making casual observations. I didnt have anything enlightening to pass on to you, no quotes, no words of wisdom. But, I will read what you wri
te and chime in from time to time when I have something sensible to say.
